3.         历史经验依然在许多领域扮演重要作用。一方面，科学领域（教科书、经典理论、牛顿）；另一方面，人们因为不认真汲取历史的教训，以至于重复犯了错误
4.         历史文化遗产带给人们精神鼓舞和文化认同
5.         要想保持社会的可持续发展，要关注创新能力，也要基于历史。

We are now living in a society which is changing so fast that someone asserts that it is not necessary to look back to the past for guidance since everything is new and complex today. While I concede that it is a positive attitude to cast our nets forward if we want to change our lives to better ones because the present situation is truly different from the past. However, as many cases illustrate, a large amount of success we made today is based on the past experience.

Admittedly, things are different today. 130 years ago, we could not image people can talk with each other from thousands of miles away; 100 years ago, it was just a dream for human being to fly like a bird in the sky; 50 years ago, it was a impossible mission for people to calculate millions of data in a few seconds; 20 years ago, we could not expect to know so much information by using nothing but a computer. But all of these come true today. The world is so complicated and dazzling that losing in the past will lead us fail to follow the steps of the world.

Nevertheless, reviewing the history, past experience played a vital role in the development of human beings and lots of failures could be avoided if we look back for guidance. On one hand, in the realm of science, many of the textbooks we are using now were written even hundreds of years ago and many theories that were raised long before are now recognized to be classical. Just as Newton said, "If I have been able to see further, it was only because I stood on the shoulders of giants." It is not only was he modest, but also the past guidance did lend him a hand to achieve a considerable success as a scientist. On the other hand, as Francis Bacon said, "We learn from history that we never learn from history." People keep making the same mistakes over and over again, which could be avoided if the lessons of the past truly become guidance on our present lives. If you want to understand today, you have to search yesterday.

Moreover, cultural heritages, either tangible or intangible, are precious spiritual wealth which have great significance for our present lives. Learning from the past provides inspiration and distinct cultural identity. For example, the Russian soldiers were inspired by a speech of Joseph Stalin in 1941 when the fascists invaded Russia. He said, "They want to eliminate a country which brought up Peter.The.Great, Pushkin, Tolstoy, Kutuzov..." They won the war at last because all the names represent the core spirit of their own country and they would never accept a country like this being eliminated.

In conclusion, histories make men wise. To keep sustained development of the modern society, we should emphasize the importance of creativity, and the innovation should be based on history as well even though it is a new and complex world today.
