In today's rapid changing world, I cast little doubts on the assertion that the world and the society nowadays are new and complex, but it is too ridiculous to predict that little guidance for living in the present could we attain when resorting to the past. First and foremost, when looking back with an insight vision, there is no difficult to figure out that some problems existing for thousands of years still haunt us. In the realm of Philosophy, obviously, the desire to touch the essence of the world, or even, of ourselves never fails to fascinate the great minds, from Socrates to Satre. When it comes to the inner thoughts, say the impulses, of human beings, it is the same case. The crimes are initiated by the greedy of crime, who are blind when facing with fortune, power and so forth. It is true that the technologies they employ are more advanced than before, nevertheless, what stimulates the desire to commit a crime remains the same. Consequently, the methods to prevent the crimes still lie in improving the moral sense of human beings, which contributes to taking charge of ego impulse. In the second place, despite the fact that the current problems are increasingly complicated and seldom resemble those encountered by our precedents, still can we acquire the methods of thinking and attitudes from the abundant previous experience. The examples in academic researches illustrate such a point probably. As is known to all, most genius scholars contributes their accomplishment to their precedents, and the head of the Physic school in my university ever said that( and I paraphrase)"although their discoveries may even covered with dust, somewhat out of date, and may never put into practice any more, the precious minds in these piles of documents remain glitter, and are beneficial to us for their determination to sacrifice one's life to the scientific research, their inclination to preserve one's virtues after gaining world-wide frame, their skeptical attitudes towards discoveries. Those fictions are perpetual in science field and, to a large degree, inspire offspring." The every word above is beating my minds, encouraging me to respect the past. Admittedly, due to the globalization and highly developed technology, the world reveals itself with a totally different appearance. As the relationships between each country are getting more and more tight, the policy maker should consider more than before as the decision taken by he or she may promote a series of consequences completely out of expectation. Moreover, the advanced technologies fascinating our life, while on the other hand, produce obstacles in daily life. The high technology take the labor jobs as well as the mental ones, owing to which considerable number of people suffer from lacking opportunities to get a decent job. More importantly, most people claims that it is the technologies should be blamed for the high risk of cancer, the danger of nuclear holocaust, the discomfort of diminishing care between people. And all the problems above are distinguished with previous ones. To sum up, I take it for granted that people nowadays feel obliged to encounter the everlasting problems throughout history as well as new and complex world with various problems never thought about before, however, the past presents as the precious mine for us where we can dig out substantiate amount of correct thinking attitudes. |
