As the whole world had came into a information age, governments are pay more and more attention on education. Because students could get more information from education, and use those information to develop their countries.(直接说发展他们的国家好像不太属于西方的说法) Some people claimed that a nation should require all its students to study the same curriculum before they enter college. I believe this kind of teaching method could bring some benefits to the whole students. However, there will be some problems if the government ignores the difference between different regions in the country.
When all the schools in the country are required to have(主语是学校而不是学生,所以用provide会不会好点呢) the same national curriculum. There will be no regional differences(difference) between students who study in different school(s). All the students will have the same structure of knowledge. Government could set a list of necessary subjects for schools, and schools will teach students the courses appeared(感觉可以换个更贴切的词,eg.mentioned) on the list. In that(指代前面提到的事情应用this) way, there will be no ignorance or omit in schools' teaching. Otherwise, if some schools have math(maths) but don't have history while other schools are just the opposite. Students graduated from the two schools will have a different knowledge structure. And when those students come to universities and take some science courses, students who learned math before will feel easier. And if those students take some history courses, students who learned history before will feel easier. In that case, some students may drop the course which they think is hard to understand. It's not a good thing for students. Because it could cause the imbalance development of the students(‘) knowledge. The imbalance development will let students become incapable of getting some information. However, since we are living in an information society, the capability of getting information is quite important. If all the schools in one country have the same curriculum for students, the phenomenon I mentioned above will not happen.(这段虽然说的主要是一个观点,不过还是太长了,可以考虑多分几段^^)
However, while the nation required schools (to) have the same curriculum. Governors have to notice the differences between different regions. Those differences include cultural differences, economical differences etc. Ignore those differences may destroy the nation's traditional culture, or let students waste lots of time on some unnecessary courses.
There are always several races or tribes lived in a country. And those tribes and races have different cultures. Each race or tribe had different view of value and a different history. No matter others accepted them or not, they are still stands for the race or tribe. Those things formed the diversity of the national culture. In some area, teachers who come from tribe will teach students their unique history and view of value(价值观可以直接用values表示). Thus, the tribe's history will be transited to the next generation. If all the schools in the country are forced to have the same curriculum, teachers can't teach their students their special culture and history. The nation will lose the diversity of its culture. Those tribes may not exist, because their histories are not allowed to be taught in the school. Tribes' offspring won’t have chance to study their culture systematically. When the members of the tribe forget the tribe’s history and culture. The tribe will lost(lose) its unique character, and tribe is just as the same as other ordinary groups.
Besides that, schools should have the right to determine students’ courses based on the different economical environment. In the industrial region, students may want to learn some subjects related to industries. Such as , Mass Production, Chemistry Procedure. In that way, those students could have a better understanding of their region. It also help students to cope with their jobs after they graduate from school, because they could connect the real job with the knowledge they have learned. If the schools are forced to teach students agriculture or other subjects which have little relevance with their region. Students will waste lots of time on those subjects. After they graduate, they may found what they have learned in the school are useless. Because their region don’t need those knowledge.(个人感觉这一段所陈述的问题更可能出现在大学教育中,但本文说的是大学前教育的规范化问题^^)
As a conclusion, I think that the national curriculum should mixed with the special needs of certain regions. While the government set up a national curriculum, the government should let schools to set up courses which based on the needs of the(改成each会不会好些) region.
另外,虽然知道本文是分了两个方面来说,但读时感觉层次感还不够明晰,也许可以在连词上再下点功夫^^ |
