TOPIC: ISSUE221 - "The chief benefit of the study of history is to break down the illusion that people in one period of time are significantly different from people who lived at any other time in history."

The speaker claims that studying history would make us to be able to break down the illusion that people differ as they live in diverse history period.I fundamentally agree with the speakers clamaition. What's more,I concede that we can get more benefits besides the one we mentioned above, such as valuable experience and so forth.

One compelling argument for the benefit to study history has to do with the fact that people live in various periods throughout human history shares some similar features with one or another, occasionally or not.History is,on some extent, like a mirror. When we looking in,it expose our defects to us-or even more show us a way to address the pressing problem that may annoy us in our day-to-day affairs-by the way of contrasting us with figures in history who is mentally or physically similar to us.In other words, become familiar with the historical characters and events would make us more sensible and effective when facing with a serious problem or when we loss our way in the complex and abstruse life forests.

Another compelling argument for the benefit in studying history involves that to know a certain amount of differences between us and figures in history would also can do great favor to us.Or even the reseach and study of the history that is not related to our daily life could spark a boon for us and our society. The history of acient Greek is a good case in point.Almost all the people are interested in the history of acient Greek which is famous for the democratic society, flourshing literature and high achievement in science and technology.Becauses that period is too far from us we could not possibly know what happened or any other thing in that great old country. However, historians study a large number of significant imformation about old Greek from the two great works of Homer,Odyssey and Illiad, which depicts famous wars at that period.Although a great many imaginations and unreal legends of heroes exist in the two great works and some assertion generalized by historians are not exact enough.Historians are successfully spread the great acient Greek's thoughts and main events happened there to us.In short, knowing some figures and events that is not similar even irrelated to us would be beneficial,as well.

Moreover, some more meaningful and valuable things can we get from study of history.Success in history would provide us a myriad of experience any of which is possible to result in our success today;failures, which we can see and comprehend from history, could avoid us to make the same or similar mistakes. In turn, all these benefits we can get from studying history,as discussed above, would make us more efficient and more wit and rational on our own we to pursue our own success. Thanks to these benefits, including experince that is valuable,we are more likely to be successful in our own undertaking, and moreover we are more likely to provide more valid experience to our latter generation which they could use in seeking success of themselves.

To sum up,I fundamentally agree with the speaker that studying history can be benefical for us to realize that we,modern generations,is inevitably somewhat similar with some figure in history. And in addition,we can get more useful information such as experiences and lessons from history. So when we make best use of history both public and our own,we will be sensible and efficient in solving pressing problems and living our own life.
