1.        人们看待事务，穿着和行事方式的确可以反映一些社会的思想和价值观念。
2.        但是，在更多的情况下，穿着和行事方式并不能反映出人们的全部信息。
3.        如果需要了解更多的社会思想和价值观，应该更多地去了解它的文化。

One may probably have his or her own style in how to look, dress and act, that may perhaps reveal his or her attitudes and interests. However, whether a society's ideas and values could be told by observing the appearance and behavior of its people as the author asserts? This is open to doubt and I would argue that it is far from sufficient by observing the appearance and behavior, if one want to have a deep view of a society's ideas and values.

To some extent, the assertion of the arguer is right for certain group of people's appearance and behavior do reveal some of the ideas and values of a society. Certain groups of people in the society always have their own ways in how to look, how to dress and how to act. For instance, the youth of a society reveal current fashion culture of a society. They are full of passion and vitality. Lacking a steadfast conviction in tradition, they easily accept, understand and develop new concepts. Analysis of youth trends is crucial to understanding contemporary fashion ideas and values.

However, in most cases, the appearance of a person can not unfold any information about him or her. Actually, many people do not care what they wear. It is entirely possible that what people wear has nothing to do with the way people used to look, dress or act, to say nothing of the ideas and values of a society. Possibly, a professor in a university, for instance, wear homely while a poor person may wear in a strange way which may be considered to be cool. Thus, it is substantiated to assert that we can tell much about a society's ideas and values by observing the appearance and behavior of its people.

Further more, in order to study a society's ideas and values, one should know more culture of this society rather than just superficially observing what people wear and act. The ideas and values are cultivated in the people's minds and they can not simply revealed by observing the appearances and behaviors of the people. These thoughts, which may be partly revealed by the way people look, dress and act, are always embodied in the arts, music, poems and so on. And a deep view of the ideas and values requires further study of the society's history, great success, and also its great heroes both in the past and the temporary time.

To sum up, people can tell part of the society's ideas and values by observing the appearance and behavior of its people. However, that is not enough. If one wants to know more about ideas and values of the society, he or she needs to study the society's history, arts, and literatures, so that a full view of ideas and values will be obtained.
