Definitely, I will raise my hands up when facing the speaker's notion that artists give society something of lasting value, for the reason that in many aspects the artists' compositions can reflect the social life of the current society.

To begin with, considering the aspect of writting, in which area that numbers of famous writers whose novels are published throughout the world, can reveal the society's most vital concentrations in the exact era. For instance, it is the Chinese famous novel which called "A Dreame Of The Red Mansions"  that describes the traditional Chinese customs and let the individuals of nowadays society know what is the old people's life be like. It is a very significant way of exploring the  social value of that period of time. Thus, withiout the artist's hard working, we will lose these values more or less.

Additionally, in the aspect of movie, which is also an area of the artist's activitie, lots of deep-insights movies no matter in the past or nowadays tell the audience all over the world the diffirent cultures and the vital situations of the current world. For example, in the period of war, there are many mivies which claim the peace of the whole world, shouting out what peole's thoughts deeply in their heart, and which, can let every nation's leader know how important the peace is. Another example, a movie recently called "The Day After Tomorrow" lead us to a horrible sceen if we continue polluting the environment. All of these creations by artists give the society many values which cannot be overlooked.

However, the contributions made by the critics cannot be neglected in that  the artists' compositions may be sometimes hard to understand and at this time the critics can help us reading them. Receiving a better understanding of those arts, we can achieve more value through them. Therefore, while the artists can give the society something of the lasting value, the critics' working is also significant to the society

To sum up, the modern society can benefit a lot from the artist's wokings in many aspects. We can get accurate images of the past through the creatings of them and know how to develop the world in a proper way instead of making stupid mistakes. At the same time, the critics' wokings give us a better standing of the art and help us receive more lating value from them.

Thus, withiout (without)the artist's hard working, we will lose these values more or less.(在 issue中好像应尽量避免第一人称，用general public就可以啊)
