以前和教授联系得到的,,,,希望有点帮助,,,

Each year, we receive between 150 and 200 completed Ph.D. applications for fall quarter admission. In late January and early February of 2008, our faculty will review all of the applications received for fall and rank the top 30 - 40 applicants based on their individual merit. From mid-February until mid- April, we will make offers of admission with fellowships until we run out of financial funds. In the past 3 years, we have typically enrolled between 14 - 18 new Ph.D. students for fall classes and approximately 12 - 14 of these students received fellowships that covered most of the expenses during their 5 years of study in our program. Students on a full fellowship from our department generally receive a stipend their first year of Ph.D. study and we also pay their educational fees, non-resident tuition and health insurance. In the remaining 4 years of their fellowship award, we substitute a Teaching Assistantship (TA) position for their stipend and they are required to work in our Economics Department as a TA. Students in our department who work as TAs for the Fall, Winter and Spring quarters receive a salary of approximately (US) $15,000 per year (in addition to the payment of their educational fees, non-resident tuition and health insurance). You will use this $15,000 annual TA salary to pay for your food, rent, books and about $600 (per year) in additional University fees.

Although there is not a minimum required grade average (or marks) required for admission, it is recommended that applicants for Ph.D. study have a grade average of 3.2 or better (on a 4 point scale) or have “first-class” marks and also a GRE score of 1100 or better. For International applicants, a minimum 550 TOEFL score (paper exam) is also required (or a 213 score on the computerized exam or an 80 score on the new online TOEFL exam). Please note that the TOEFL Exam requirement can also be met by arranging to have a telephone "TOEFL Exam Waiver Interview" with our Graduate Advisor. This is something that you can arrange with me by email in late January and early February of 2008 while our faculty members are conducting their application review process.

Our new entering Ph.D. class for Fall 2007, was admitted with an average GPA of 3.63 (based on a 4 point scale) and an average GRE score of 1307 (verbal + quantitative). Additionally, the average verbal scores for their GRE exams was 561 and the average quantitative scores for their GRE exams was 746. The average TOEFL score (computerized) for international students admitted for Fall 2007 was 267.

It is important to note that each application is reviewed on the basis of individual merit. Therefore we encourage you to apply even if you do not exactly meet the recommended or average GPA and GRE scores shown above. Below is a summary of our Ph.D. application requirements.

Please feel free to contact me if you have additional questions or concerns.

Thanks again for your interest,

Gary
