[Issue54] History teaches us only one thing: knowing about the past cannot help people to make important decisions today.

Why, you may wonder, did the authorities establish a library with a supreme guard level-The Congress Library of America? Why do the governments all over the world take every effort to construct and protect those museums, taken as a reflection of history, which might bring no interest for the governments in any form? History accounts! In the government’s eye, it is past history that teaches us to discover our values, improve our society, and also know about the past; they ‘investment’ a lot to history education and get back the investments from the nation’s enlightened offspring who have founded unique insights from history about how to make important informed decisions.
From the perspective of domestic government of a nation, whether it is a nation with a splendid long history or a nation with shamed colonial past, they deem it to their responsibility to make the nation’s history known to their residents; the residents will feel proud and confident if their homeland owns a splendid past and will be encouraged to make more contributions to improve the quality of the whole nation if a period of colonial past known to all, like South Africans.
From the perspective of worldwide diversity of various cultures having existed around the planet, we would have known nothing about the fabulous civilizations of other countries, if it were not for the help of history which was preserved and passed down from one generation to another. Would a Russian gentleman know anything about Pyramid or related Greek Civilization if he had not been taught about Greek history? Would an Iraqi girl get thoroughly impressed by the Great Wall, an absolutely authentic witness of Chinese brilliant history and one of the seven greatest wonders for human beings, at the first sight?
As it happens, not only vital role does history plays to teach us to recognize the past, but also history makes it possible for people to make crucial decisions nowadays. For one thing, accumulated sciences and cultures in history can be directly taken advantage of by contemporary people, such as the mathematical and physical formulas and various fine art works. Take Newton’s primary theory on calculus for an example, the general skeleton of modern mathematics is fundamentally constructed under the conclusions by Newton and Gauss, ancient philosophies. It’s hard to imagine what the situation in modern sciences, say, astronomy, physics, information technology, would be like without those eminent scientists’ contribution to the basis of sciences, not mention to advanced space exploration, gene biography which demands quantities of accurate calculation.
For another, learning from the history can provide people with a reference when a similar case happened in the past. As known to all, MBA course is quite a practical discipline. As one of the world’s most prestigious MBA school, Harvard Business School, swifts to its fame by the world-known study style-case study, which requires the students, most of whom prove to be elites in business industry sector, referring to the real business cases, like the success of TOYOTO management methods and the failure of the merger between HP and Compaq, and making practical conclusions in the discussion section. Learning from history cases contributes to those successful decisions in students’ future career.
To summarize, it is history that teaches us to recognize the past, make full use of the existing materials and thoughts, enjoy the world of diversity, and make better informed decisions. A nation without history is a nation that will definitely be forgotten by the world civilization, from this angle, would a man without affluent experience be a valuable man to the society?

Why, you may wonder, did the authorities establish a library with a supreme guard level-The Congress Library of America? Why do the governments all over the world take every effort to construct and protect those museums, taken[是不是应该把这个taken去掉] as a reflection of history, which might bring no interest for the governments in any form? History accounts[我不太明白这是什么用法,方便的话有空跟我讲一下好吗]! In the government’s eye, it is past history that teaches us to discover our values, improve our society, and also know about the past[issue 中说知道过去对现在的决定没有作用,所以在这儿说历史可以让我们知道过去,好像没有意义啊]; they ‘investment[invest] a lot to history education and get back the investments from[get from the investment in return] the nation’s enlightened offspring who have founded unique insights from history about how to make important informed decisions.
From the perspective of domestic government of a nation, whether it is a nation with a splendid long history or a nation with shamed colonial past, they deem it to [deem that it’s]their responsibility to make the nation’s history known to their residents; the residents will feel proud and confident if their homeland owns [owning]a splendid past and will be encouraged to make more contributions to improve the quality of the whole nation if a period of colonial past known to all, like South Africans.
From the perspective of worldwide diversity of various cultures having[去掉 having] existed around the planet, we would have known nothing about the fabulous civilizations of other countries, if it were not for the help of history which was[which was 可以去掉,这样句子会更简练,当然不去掉也行] preserved and passed down from one generation to another. Would a Russian gentleman know anything about Pyramid or related Greek Civilization if he had not been taught about [Egypt or]Greek history? Would an Iraqi girl get thoroughly impressed by the Great Wall, an absolutely authentic witness of Chinese brilliant history and one of the seven greatest wonders for human beings, at the first sight[句子太长,感觉不够紧凑]?
