TOPIC: ISSUE153 - "Students should bring a certain skepticism to whatever they study. They should question what they are taught instead of accepting it passively."

Is it necessary for students to bring certain skepticism to whatever they study as the speaker claims? Generally speaking, in the field of education the critical thinking is important for student which is the chief aim of education. However after carefully examination, I find the assertion is untenable on several aspects. In a word, whether certain skepticism is required depends on different circumstances.
To the first point, when comes to the area of research no matter what kind it is, almost every important discovery or watershed appeared in scientific area is due to the skepticism. The skepticism on the position of earth in universe leads people to have a new idea of ourselves and hence the fact inspired people to find more theories that possible wrong in the world. Every minute in history, we are absorbing knowledge from antecedent people and at the same time we break out the old rules and only in this way our society evolves. Without skepticism, we may still stay in the time of wild world. In the future, when the nowadays students take their positions in our society, their skepticism may become new driving force of our society. Consequently, in this point I strongly agree with the speaker' opinion.
However, when comes to the fundamental education, the assertion can find little evidence to support itself. Common sense tells us that any skepticism raised in history can not hold its position without abundance evidence. In another word, what the primary education can give us is the basic knowledge which can further help us to make our judgment in future. If we pay too much attention to the fundamental knowledge, we may lose our orientation in education due to insufficient knowledge.
Cultivating students is a huge project. It could possible take ten years or longer to formulate a critical thinking mind. During the long process of cultivating, sometimes we can hardly tell the where is necessary to be paid more attention especially between primary school and college. The opinion that a theory which has been rigidly examined through a long time seems more plausible than the edge-cutting ones is appealing. In my opinion, the more education one receives, the more he/she should skeptic especially in the most advanced physical theory.
In the sum, whether a certain skepticism is necessary depends on vary circumstances. Though the speaker' assertion seems plausible in large scale, any judgment should be made case by case.

The skepticism on the position of earth in universe leads people to have a new idea of ourselves and hence the fact inspired people to find more theories that possible wrong in the world.[有点乱,在整理一下,而且这里应该有个例子支撑你的观点。比如伽利略质疑亚里士多德,斜塔实验。等] Every minute in history, we are absorbing knowledge from antecedent people and at the same time we break out the old rules and only in this way our society evolves. Without skepticism, we may still stay in the time of wild world.
