While the next generation has already been counted as the key dominant of the future, someone found that all the teachers should spend time working out of their realms in jobs related with the subjects they teach. However, conceding that working in the positions relevant to the courses will help teachers improve their qualities of teaching, in order to fundamentally reform the quality of instruction, teachers should enhance the academic levels by themselves, and the colleges can adopt some effective strategies.
For teachers, working outside the campus in professions connected with the subjects they teach can help them catch up with the new information in those fields of learning. While most of the textbooks are written about a couple of years ago, only absorbing the messages disseminated from the books cannot lead students to keep abreast of the updating news around the world, in which their academic ability are being brought into play. However, if teachers can get themselves involved in those professions aiming at the academia, this kind of phenomenon will be greatly changed. For example, for teachers of journalism, they should get in touch with the professions such as journalists and reporters. Though the slight differences between the two roles can be interpreted by many theories, however, without experiences of these jobs teachers would not discover how different works will be between writing news reports and writing events.
Albeit having worked in those domains affiliated with the courses is indispensable to teaching in the classrooms, the effective method of improving the quality of instruction is to strengthen one's academic competence by owning a critical attitude and the spirit of responsibility. Basically, the reasons why one can be a teacher are: the ability to judge between right and wrong, and the heart of contributing one's life in cultivating students into a qualified owner of future. My professor of physics who has written the textbook told me ( and I paraphrase) : " The main standard of choosing teachers who are qualified to compile the textbook is whether he/she can find the flaws from the formerly used textbooks and inject something recently accomplished into the new one." In addition, the sense of responsibility is also required among teachers. Imagine if a teacher doesn’t prepare for the lessons of the subjects he/she teaches, and grades the students’ homework perfunctorily, it is very likely that the students will be misleading not only in studies but also in life, on condition that they have known what kind of attitude the teacher has towards his/her job. Therefore, as a good teacher, one needs to match the basic quality as described above.
While improving the teachers’ work is helpful to the construction of teaching, many other options are also good choices for the school to choose. In case the quality of instruction is made up of many parts, other measures such as importing highly-respected teachers from other schools, and adopting new teaching ways, according to the deficiencies of the educational sections in the school. If the school accurately diagnoses its sticking points and pushes the methods into action effectively, the quality of instruction might be enhanced as soon as possible.
Consequently, teachers should go outside the campus and spend time working in the profession related to their subjects if needed, and hence they can be ahead of the edge of the academic trends. Howbeit, the other teachers are required to fundamentally correct their attitudes and be responsible for the students. In addition, many measures are optional for the school depending on the weakness they have. Thus the quality of instruction can be comprehensively better. |
