GaTech课程很好，就业听说也是不错的，Columbia和FE相关的program多，招的人也多
但ivy+new york实在太吸引人，求各位帮帮我吧！！

还是实际一点吧，米国就业不好，回国就业COLUMBIA也是个大牌子~
在NYU 机会也多一些~

楼主定下去Columbia了吗？我准备就去Columbia OR了，先在他们的FE的wait list上，然后被转到OR去了。如果楼主去的话，可以联系联系阿。

不过还是决定去了。我在Columbia读OR的朋友说，OR只要求必修四门数学，剩下来的就可以都修FE的课。最后在简历上写“OR with specialization in FE". 目前知道今年OR有几个人拿到香港Morgan Stanley的trading internship. 我朋友说根据以往数据，70%-80%的OR会去financial industry, 剩下的去consulting之类的。

感谢各位的意见，我原本比较倾向去GATech，现在又得认真考虑了。

今年似乎除了top的FE以外，其它普遍都不好，希望明年就业市场会好转…

我还没有决定，听我一个也是念Columbia OR的朋友说，NY那边竞争非常激烈。我在考虑如果留在Atlanta找工作会不会比较容易，毕竟GATech在当地名声不错。anyway，非常感谢你的建议

I work for an investment bank on wall street. My advice is to go to Columbia. You stand a better chance looking for jobs with the Columbia brand.

1. Go for OR. Systems Engineering is not as relevant.

2. UPenn/Cornell/Columbia are equal in brandname, but Columbia has the location and alumni edge for ib.

谢谢回复，请问一下，两个的关系真的不大吗？我也不是很懂，但是从课程安排上来讲给我的感觉好像差不大太多

这几门是　Penn的SE主修：

ENM 503 Introduction to Probability & Statistics
ESE 540 Economic Systems Analysis
ESE 603 Simulation Modeling & Analsyis
ESE 504 Introduction to Optimization Theory

三门选修，好像是 project management, risk analysis, linear systems theory
外加三门的金融课程也是选修，不过都不是工程院的，是去商学院上的

这几门是Columbia的主修：

SIEO W4150 Introduction to Probability and Statistics
IEOR E4004 Introduction to Operations Research: Deterministic Models
IEOR E4106 Introduction to Operations Research: Stochastic Models
IEOR E4404 Simulation

剩下的也是Finance的选修课，感觉好像差别不大啊？

Cornell的Systems Engineering + ORIE好像也是类似，但是更多了些Systems design这类的课

SE 是 APPLIED OR 应用在 SYSTEMS OPTIMZATION & MGMT. 就象6SIGMA 是 STATS 应用在 PROCESS IMPROVEMENT.

Learning OR as a technique allows you to apply it to different fields. Learning OR in the SE context makes you a systems engineer. We prefer OR guys to systems engineer just like we prefer a statistician to a 6sigma black belt. Systems engineer and 6 sigma belongs to the BO.

I'm not saying doing the SE from UPenn is bad, but if you want to work in FO of an IB, then SE is too specialized and less relevant than OR. Plus Columbia MSOR has a good alumni base working in IB that you can tap on. I'm sure UPenn's SE program has way lesser graduates who eventually got a FO job.
