“Music I heard with you was more than music.” Exactly. And therefore music itself can only be heard alone. Solitude is the salt of personhood(离群索居是人生兴味之所在). It brings out the authentic flavor of experience.

虽独自一人但从不孤寂：当畅游于静寂的庭院，漫步在清凉的屋宇，一人孑孑徘徊之时，精神思想的探索从未停止。

Loneliness is most accurately felt with other people, for with others, even with a lover sometimes, we suffer from our differences of taste, temperament, mood. Human intercourse often demands that we soften the edge of perception, or withdraw at the very instant of personal truth for fear of hurting, or of being inappropriately present, which is to say naked, in a social situation. Alone we can afford to be wholly whatever we are, and to feel whatever we feel absolutely. That is great luxury!
