我到底能申请教育的什么专业？

我的申请到今日已经陷入困境，一路走来就为着申请教育，但没有想到因为自己本科是金融， 申请中遇到这么大的困难！我开始想申teaching and learning或是instruction and curriculum,但在各学校网页上了解后才知一般要选择early childhood education, elementary education或higher education等等的specialization,关键大多学校是要求有在美国的教学经验和certification的，educational leadership则是要求有高校的管理经验，是为已经是或准备是校长的人准备的。情急之下转而申请reading education.不料走入误区，这个专业根本不是我能申请的，对teacher certification要求很严，而且完全没奖，我发了无数的信件去无数个学校询问，加拿大的学校更甚，申请教育学基本上都要求有教育学的本科文凭，换专业就连admission也难。在已经交了九所学校的材料之后，我刹车了，万分痛苦地反复说服自己，最后申请自己的老本行，经济学. 我从最开始写teaching的PS，到后面写reading的PS，最后写economics的。。。。几乎写到灵感衰竭，一想到就要呕吐了。我真的是热爱教育这个行业，一点也不虚伪地这样说。我一路的辛苦付出，也想通过出国顺利地转换专业，可以开心地教自己想教的东西。这段日子的申请历程是我一生中最痛苦的时光，我几乎是绝望掉了，我是个笨人，但舍得吃苦，我考过四次TOEFL，三次在630以上，我最后的成绩是647。G有2230也算得上合格了。还有50分的TSE。我在大学教了五年的金融了，也算得上教学经验，而且平时教儿童英语应该说取得了很大的成功和认可。为什么申请教育摸索到现在仍是一愁莫展！现在我还有机会将已申请reading的两所学校换个专业，我仍是一门心思想申教育的，我不想放弃可以想读教育的任何一丝机会，却还是选不出一个我可以申请，而且外国学生有奖学金的方向来！是因为我的闭门造车导致了今天的被动局面吗？还是申请教育本来就难，我只是之前没有正确地认识而已？我现在困惑极了，希望能得到有申请经验的同学的指点！我该放弃吗？还是再努力一下？争取最后这不可能的可能？？

I think you should not be so pessimistic and in depair. I think your background is solid. All your test score are quite satisfactory, besides, you have such a long period of teaching experience. You are very competitive. What do you want to do exactly? I mean which branch you like to choose. As you have mentioned for curriculum and instruction/teaching and learning, you can focus on elementary education, because you said you did well in teaching English to children.
And not all the universities require teaching certification. Canadian universities have a higher standard for this field than US universities do. You have 5 years of full time teaching experience, I think it is enough for you to apply for educational administration as you are quite familiar with the educational system. You can point out the advantage or disadvantage of our educational system or the teaching methdology. ..
Don't give up. Do what you love to do. Otherwise you will feel much painful even if you can succeed in studying Economics in US.
Well, that's just my personal idea. Let's see what other people will give you here.

Hello, I can see that you are really exauhsted about you application. Anyway, just do it. Your efforts will bring success for you. As far as I am concerned, I remember in my application process I used to find some colleges of education have the major called Business Education. Is it suitable for you. I think you can go to the websites of some universities to find more details about this major. Moreover, I have also taought children English as a part time teacher for nearly three years. I think this experience will help us a lot if we appy to the program of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. So I have thought your situations and helped you find out two suitable majors. I think you are so qualified to apply for a wonderful school. Why you failed last time, i think that's probably because you have applied for wrong schools, such as UCSB, which really requires much more than what we might have thought of. Maybe you can try others, besides, you just didn't tell us which schools you applied for, and what is your PS about...

In a word, don't give up and share your pain and puzzle without hesitation with us. We are so pleased to help you.

我觉得你申请curriculum and instruction，higher education administration， educational technology， educational evaluation等专业都比reading强，因为reading太偏重于literature了，而且和你的背景并不太吻合。据我所知，curriculum and instruction是限制最小的应用最广泛的一个专业。teaching license也不是必不可少的条件，我印象里很多学校都没有这个要求，你应该好好搜索一下，如果哪个学校一定要这个，那你干脆不要浪费你的申请费了。还有，你说的don't provide any financia aid也太绝对，起码有不少学校是提供assistantship或者部分scholarship，每年到美国学教育的也绝对不是少数，和别的专业不同，教育专业半奖的签过率都不低。

你有很不错的背景，很不错的成绩，一定要好好找相适应的专业，写好ps，申请还是很有希望的。不要轻易放弃。
