In this argument, the arguer concludes that personal or recreational activities on internet will lead to low productivity, in order to improve the conclusion, the arguer points out that they should implement electronic monitoring of employees' Internet use from their workstations. In addition, the arguer reasons that if they want to improve their overall profits they must limit the time their subordinates spend on shopping or playing games. The argument suffers from several critical fallacies.
First of all, the vice precedent (VP) acclaim that people spend time on personal activities that cause the productivity dissatisfied without give any evidence. May be it was not the recreational activities that cause the productivity dissatisfied, the old machine or former blueprint that cause the low productivity, however, the personal activities have no bad influence to the productivity instead of foster a better work ethic at Climpson.
Secondly, even if the shopping or playing games on internet that caused the low productivity may be implement electronic monitor is still not a good improvement. May be the employees will feel the large pressure when there is an electronic monitoring on his/her PC or they will cause dissatisfaction from the workers which are all the aspect that will reduce the productivity. Without considering and ruling out these and other factors that might have served to reduce the productivity, the author cannot justifiably conclude that his plan will effect very well.
Thirdly, even though this installation well improvement the employees’ efficiency, the VP still fails to prove that install the monitor is a good method.
May be this electronic monitor software will spend a lot of funds or may be this software will slow down the computer because which is another aspect that reduce the efficiency. If it is true, spend this money on upgrade the computer is much better than install the monitor.
In conclusion, the VP fails to convince me that install this equipment is positively a good method, to strengthen the argument the author must account for that it was personal activity that cause the low productivity for sure and the subordinates do not care to install such equipment in their computer and it would cause little effect from the computer.
