TOPIC: ARGUMENT30 - According to information recently reported in the Eliottown Gazette, the number of people who travel to Eliottown has increased significantly over the past several years. So far this year over 100,000 people have arrived on flights to Eliottown's airport, compared with only 80,000 last year and 40,000 the year before. Eliottown's train station has received more than 50,000 passengers this year, compared with less than 40,000 last year and 20,000 the year before. Clearly tourism in Eliottown has been increasing, thanks to the new Central Park and Museum of Modern Art that opened last year. Therefore, the funding for the park and museum should be increased significantly.

By relying on the fact that the number of people who travel to Eliottown has increased significantly, more people have arrived on flights to Eliottown and more train passengers since last year, the author assumes that the facts due to the new Central Park and Museum of Modern Art opened that year. So the author suggests that the funding for the park and museum should be increased significantly. However, I find the suggestion unpersuasive for several flaws.

First of all, the increasing number of tourists doesn't indicate that new Central Park and Museum of Modern Art opened that year attracts most tourists. In train station, though about 20,000 more increased tourist this year, the increasing rate of last year is much higher than this year. Since the year before last year, there was no new Central Park and Museum of Modern Art, but the number of tourists still increases. So there must be other factors that contribute to the increasing tourism.

Secondly, no statistic evidence has shown that Central Park and Museum of Modern Art opened that year attracts most tourists, and people who travel to Eliottown are willing to visit these two places.  Perhaps even if the tourism in Eliottown is increasing, no evidence showed that Central Park and Museum of Modern Art would popular and attractive.

Thirdly, even Central Park and Museum of Modern Art attracts a good number of tourists, there is no evidence shows that they need more funding in order to attract tourists. There is no precise budget about the cost of maintaining Central Park and Museum of Modern Art, and the incomes of them.

In sum, the suggestion is unpersuasive as it stands. To bolster, the author have to prove that Central Park and Museum of Modern Art attracts most tourists and they actually need more funding.
