The first concerns relevant to the importance of understanding past is that people understanding national living sprite and culture tradition by looking back for history. Accompanied with soaring development of international communications, national traditions and culture histories are inevitably diluted by the generation of internationalized culture. To encourage populace to look back on national history would help in understanding national cultural. The study of famous historical event of Opium War, which took place in recent history of China, remind all national populace how our ancestors resist the foreign aggression and how the national spiritual--consistently strive to become stronger—be generated. Therefore, we understand we are nations that are diligent and adamant. Cast back further, traditional Chinese populaces and emperors all believed in Buddha, many traditional ceremonies and rituals in Chinese history express their reverence toward the Buddha. This is critical in explain why China today is one of country have the largest population of Buddhist, and why ordinary people are willing to burn joss sticks.

The second concern relevant to the importance of understanding past is that people understanding contemporary development by looking back to history. Supposing people does not looking back for history, there could hardly generate any development. For instance, in psychological study, the psychology canon written by Flourid represents a great advancement in psychology research area and indicate later investigation orientation, although it is already a historical canon, it is indispensable in understanding contemporary research progress; Moreover, previous medical development are the spiritual leadership of prevalent advancement, Nandinggeer, the first people dedicated in caring patient during the first world war laid the firm foundation of contemporary nursing specialty, when enthusiasm younger decide to start nursing study, they would also learning about the history of nursing in order to understand their choice in spiritual depth, without understanding the famous person’ s great contribution, current nursing specialty would not receive so many reputation.

Some people might argue, there are some problems emerged as new ones that none previous situation could serve as instructor, for instance, the development of international cooperation of environmental protection including found solutions to problems of ozone destroy caused by industry emission, so on and so forth, people could not get the direct answers in studying the past. However, people should understand that despite they might suffered from finding the adjustable pathway to the unprecedented problems , they are actually provide precious history for the next generation and serve as guidance for the future of human beings.

In sum, to understanding to past is nothing but helpful in helping people understand contemporary societies, and even with out precedent, contemporary humans investigation in new things are in reality served to guide the next generation.
