In some high schools and universities, the students have group works, giving the members of a group the same grade, do you think it can evaluate the students?

Since the cooperation between individuals becomes more and more close, students in some high school and universities begin to work in group. And they are evaluated by the some grade of that group. In my opinion, this kind of evaluation is quite unfair and would not represent the true ability of students for the following reasons.

First of all, the whole performance of the group would not stand for the every individual's ability, hence evaluating students by the grade of group is unfair and irrational. Different individual plays different role in the group. Some of them may work hard in finishing the details, while some may be responsible for the whole conformity. Due to their close cooperation, their group might have a chance to have a well performance. However, a well performance of the group does not mean that all of members possess the same ability and they contribute equally to the group, thus they should be evaluated with a same grade of their group. Since what the members have done is quite different, they should be evaluated by what they have truly done in the group instead of the whole grade of their group. So evaluating by the group's grade would hardly respond to the members' true ability.

What's more, evaluation by the group's grade would have negative effect towards the group members. As we all know, there are always these two type members in a group- one is the essence of group who are working hard in providing the insight of the work and the other doesn't contribute much at all. Once all of them are evaluate with the same grade of their group, the diligent members would probably feel that they should not receive such a low evaluation which is not quite conform to what they have done. While on the contrary, those who contribute a little would probably satisfy what they have received and be likely to continue idle in the future work. Therefore, it is unwise to evaluate all students with the grade give to their group.

In sum, different members in the group behave differently. Thus evaluating the members with the grade of their group is unfair and irrational to all members in the group.

So evaluating by the group's grade would hardly respond to the members' true ability.
