The government should not spend money on national defense. It should put the money in arts instead. To what extent do you agree?

Along with the development of our society, a host of countriesallocatean increasing amount of funding on the construction of nationaldefenseso as to enhance the military forces and to combat thepotentialattacks and invasions. However, this phenomenon leads to aheateddiscussion among people about whether the allocated budgetsarenecessary or not. Some persons suggest that the money should beusedfor arts instead. As far as I am concerned, the government shouldspendmoney not only on national defense, but also on arts.

Admittedly, the arts play especially important roles in a country.Firstly, the well-developed arts will undoubtedly helppersons toalleviate the extremely heavy physical and psychologicalburdens,resulted from their works and daily lives. Second, spreadingthe artswill promote the proliferation of the communication of thevariouscultures, and also enrich the citizens’ knowledge and broadentheirhorizons.

In spite of the afore-mentioned advantages brought by spendingmoneyinto arts, the importance of investing money into theconstruction ofnational defense should not be ignored. To begin with,once more budgetsare assigned to strengthen the national forces, thecitizens willprobably live and work in a much more comfortable andpeacefulenvironments without worrying the possible invasions by theterroristsor other threats. In addition, the solid national defensewouldfacilitate one country to play a more essential role intheinternational affairs, and hence improve its internationalstatus.Thus, it is safe to draw the conclusion that spending large sumsofmoney into national defense business is indispensable.

Overall, I, personally, contend that the investment of budgetsintoestablishing the national defense should be invariably synthesizedwiththe allocation of funding into accelerating the arts. Of course, itisnecessary for government to put enormous efforts to seek anefficientscheme or policy, which could successfully guarantee thebalanceddevelopment of the two items.
