People work because they need money to live. What are some other reasons that people work? Discuss one or more of these reasons. Use specific examples and details to support your answer.

People work for different reasons. Some people do the job for money to live, but others have their numerous purposes. Then, what are other reasons why people work except from earning a living? People take different views on this question. In my opinion, I believe that people also work for their dreams and social charity.

Some people contribute the entire life to their ideals of the world peace or the freedom of country. Thousands of hundreds of people spend the whole life on their dreams such as the world peace, the right of black people, and the independence of country. There are innumerable prominent and great people among them. It is well known to us that, Martin Luther King, who was a professor at Memphis of America in 1960s, urge black people to use nonviolent actions with their efforts to gain full freedom and equality. Dr. King was awarded the Nobel Peace prize for his contribution to the world peace. We also know another eminent person, Ghanti, a national hero for the independence of India. He used all life time to release Indian people from British colonial government. In short, it can be said that those like them do not work for money but struggling for their goals.

Some people do their jobs for the public. They are very willing to do what is helpful for everyone in society because they can get a sense of accomplishment and happiness. For instance, in the Beijing Olympic Games, the volunteers contribute huge amounts of their own time and energy to this spectacular sporting meeting without any payment. It is due to their works that create the brilliant unprecedentedly Olympic Games around the world. In addition, some charity works serve for helping the sick, poor, disable, and the needy people or children in the world because they believe that people should help those who are in difficulties and cannot help themselves. They are of great necessity for our society. Therefore, from these examples, we can say that some people do work for the public and charity works instead of getting money.

In a word, from what has been discussed above, we can come to the conclusion that there are some other causes that people work apart from for money.

首先要说的是楼主的文章写的很好，完全可以当范文了。楼主应该是有GRE的功底吧，在下没有能够找出语法的错误，结构很紧凑，用词也很到位。举的例子都很好，如果能够再多点推理论证的话就好了。我感觉举例占的篇幅有些大。当然，只是吹毛求疵罢了。
