: h4 F6 b( F5 y% U8 \: A“Honesty is the best policy” may not be a saying that people hold up as Gospel Truth, but telling the truth surely has an edge over covering up the facts in the long run. The shielding of some information may allow us to escape the immediate repercussions and may even reap immediate benefits to satisfy situational needs. However, in view of various events, deception did not stand. Although people argue that telling a white lie is justifiable, people failed to think long term and end up suffering greater damage at the end.

Truth always emerges revealingly and it will never do any good if deception is used. Though one may escape the immediate crushing punishment, justice will always be done. For example in a project work, a member in a group plagiarized others work from the net. Although he may realize he is wrong sometime afterwards, he is afraid to inform his group members that he had copied the work and would need to redo it. Upon judging day of the project, the judges found out and disqualified the group. The other three members of the group knew nothing of the plagiarized work, but when the astounding truth is placed in front of them, not only the one who plagiarized, all members of the group have to face the music.

Her friend, who was afraid of disappointing her as she seemed so excited about the dress, told her that she looked great. However, when she entered the party, she became a mockery in the ballroom and was laughed by others. The event led to humiliation and another ruined friendship.

Though deception is rather tempting at times, telling the truth will always yield long term benefits. People always imagine that they can escape the further drawbacks by covering the truth, many learn the hard way when they really suffer in the long run.
