电视应该是 educate还是entertain?（07.10.5）

The advent of television strikes our life in several aspects. Naturally, people cannot be sure whether this household appliance should be regarded as a tool to educate or a method of recreation. As a proverb goes” every coin has two sides." TV plays both an educational and entertaining role in people's life.
From the educational side, TV experts in various fields of subjects. There are abundant channels and programs shown on the TV for people to choose from at will. For example, people who is keen to improve one's English, then he can turn the channel to ICS, which is hosted completely in English with Chinese subtitle in the bottom of the screen. And the most essential advantage is that people can obtain the knowledge in an authentic way which was displayed by the combination of both vivid picture and sound which makes one to comprehend more easily. In that case, one can follow what the host says and imitate the standard pronunciation and intonation. More importantly, information which is provided on TV is in a broader or an even more range, which could help enrich one's horizon in a tremendous range.
When it comes to anther facet of TV---entertainment, undoubtedly it can enact this role perfectly. Also the gorgeous programs are worth to be mentioned. People feel fatigued and exhausted after a day's boring work, at this time, when they open the TV and hear the humorous sentence or see those stupid actions performed on screen, their feeling of stress vanished immediately. As we all know, laughter can be infected unconsciously, so the other members in one's family would also be happy and enjoy the joy of sharing and being together. Especially when people is in a bad mood, they encounter a line that is similar to one's mind on occasion, and he will feel like to meet someone as a kinder spirit, thus can smooth one's pain and sadness.

From what have been illustrated above, we can safely come to the conclusion that not only TV plays an educational role in people's life but also it entertains people. With the decoration of this invention, people's life becomes more colorful than ever.
