1.9日作业07.9.8  A teacher's ability to relate well with students is more important than to give them knowledge

If you just defined the teacher as a person who gives you the knowledge, you mist the most important effect of teachers. A good teacher should not only be a person who possesses a high knowledge level, but also be a life-guide who leads students to the right direction toward personal success. From this sense, it is much more significant for a teacher to keep a good relationship with students rather than give them knowledge, because were there no trust between teacher and students, there is no way for teacher to encourage students working hardly.

Obviously, there will be several problems if the teacher does not know how to relate well with his or her students. On the one hand, students barely tend to follow the educational schedule if he or she dislikes the teacher. We knew that the effect of education is base on the efforts of both two sides: the teacher’s educational method, as well as the student’s performance. After all, no matter how well the teacher can teach; if students do not want to study, the educational work should not be reckoned as success. On the other hand, standing in a class, in which the teacher is not welcomed, it is really hard for him/her to give the class a dramatic and interesting lecture. That is to say, as of a teacher, being not able to relate well with students means that one also can not teach them in an optimal way as well.

On the contrary, a good relation between the students and teacher will greatly support the educational tasks. For some students, the reason for liking one subject may directly due to one’s preference on the teacher. Thanks to the strong credit to a teacher, one trend to try his or her best to closely follow the teacher’s instruction, which make the educational effect much effectively. From another sense, a good relationship between them always afford the students opportunities being able to learn more knowledge beyond the curriculum, which have more value of assisting one’s goal toward career success. Personally, the YuMinghong, the founder of the New Oriental School, are very kind man who treat every of his student very well. Because of this character, he owns so many fans, English lovers, in our country. For those people, they can not only get the studying skills from him, but will also learned a strong spirit and a positive life attitude from him, who used to be able to go to Peking university after three attempts but never give up.

Just like what I said above, I believe the best quality one teacher should has is the ability to relate with students well, not just know how to impart them the subject’s knowledge. With a strong trust and a good feeling to a teacher, students can study much more things than what you though.
