Retrospecting the history of human, people in different period dressed in different cloths and acted differently to similar issues. Even in the modern age, with increasing cultural exchange and understanding, people's dressing and actions vary with different cultures, ages and even genders. How people look, dress and response imply certain attitudes and interests, as there exist certain links. Observation could assist us to understand an unfamiliar society’s attitude, but unfortunately is not he best method.

As for the dressing and how people look, we can easily observe significant difference between males and females. The females often wearing skirts and commonly, if not always, make up before ceremonies and even shopping with friends while seldom do gentlemen do the same thing. It is partly due to the facts that females of humans are concentrate more on their outlooks as well as their friends' than the males. And another fact that the majority of man love sports and have certain type of sports regularly while only a limited number of women do sports regularity in China could explain why the men love sneakers and sport wears. Moreover, when it comes to the society as a whole, how its civilian look and dressed can indicates much of their attitudes. The Arabic women are forced to wear a veil when they are out suggests the culture of Arab that the women's faces are so scared to be observed by males other than their husbands. People in ancient China wear traditional cloths such as Cheongsam but t-shirts and suits are more popular nowadays, which indicates that people currently are not as traditional as their ancestors in China to certian degree.

However, the appearance of people can be affected by others' attitudes easier especially in the modern age since we can visit the world by plane within a day and surf the Internet freely. It is even harder to affect people's actions, especially how the public response to extremes, as the actions are made harshly and thus reflect the humanities. Hurricane Katrina attacked New Orleans in 2006 and killed thousands while made tens of thousand homeless. The public, not only the American public, reflect as shocked but made their actions quickly. Cuba and Venezuela, both hostile to the US government, pledged to give 1 million for the rescue of the refugee. Sri Lanka, still not recovered from the Indian Ocean Tsunami, also offered its help. People around the world are donating their blood to the International Red Cross and the celebrities from different countries are holding concerts that collected money for rescue. Here, we can clearly observe the real humanities that are often hidden beyond the appearances. Even exposed to the anti-America information, people in Cuba and Venezuela were offering help motivated by their understanding of humanities. Even wearing Nike or taking LV bags, the pop singers, rock singers and hip-hop singer can still get together to offer help. It is not how people look like or dress reflect the attitudes but the actions, especially when it comes to the extremes, and the beauty of humanities cannot be changed by the varied appearances.

Additionally, whether the method of observation is the best method that we tell the attitudes of a society or could there exist some better methods?
From my perspective of view, simply observation cannot guarantee the objective opinion when understanding an unfamiliar society's view. People can easily feel strange that the males in Qing Dynasty keep the braids and the Muslims refused to eat pork. Without clear study of the background, people tend to make their minds that certain customs are freak and thus develop misunderstandings. Certain knowledge inform us both actions have their cultural reasons and are regarded perfectly normal in certain time or certain places. Thus, the method of observation is vital when understand a society's ideas while the study of background can help us to obtain more comprehensive and objective opinions.

In sum, the appearance of people offers much information of a society's view while the actions to extremes can provide the deeper humanities. In order to make the best use of the observation of those, certain knowledge of background are necessary.
