As the author states above, education should be implemented on the basis of individual needs and interests of each student. I agree that this is true, advanced education surely should focus on individual needs and interests, but in modern society,common education should be implemented without considering of personal interests.
Education is a process, during which a teacher instructs his knowledge, presents his perspective, and students get them. If students are interested in these courses, they are likely to absorb these knowledge very easily. In contrast, if they have no interest in these courses, they tend to resist what the teacher instructs, wasting their time and teacher's efforts. The purpose of education is to prepare students to function in society and survive in society. If they're not well educated while they're in universities and colleges, they can't compete successfully in the society, they are going to lose jobs. If this happens, education is totally a failure. So, to make sure this sad thing doesn't happen, we need to educate students according to their needs and specialized fields. Only the knowledges they're interested, they studies fast, and in the future days they works, they're glad to using these knowledges every day.
Primary education is a little different, most of the pupils' individual needs are just desire, they're not career interests after deliberate consideration. We should push common education in large effort, aiming to give pupils a good knowledge basis. Also we need to tell pupils ethics in a democratic society, which is full of love, equality of oppotunity and liberty. All these things are basic spirit and knowledge an adult should have.
To sum up, it is essential to educate students according to different individual needs and interests while in advanced education. But in pupils' common education, we need to instruct our ethics and basic knowledge to all the pupils without regarding their individual desires.:)
