生物信息学博士生和博士后信息 Research assistantships in the SDSU Computational Science and Statistics Ph.D. program
South Dakota State University, Brookings, SD, USA
Graduate research assistantships are available in the Computational Science and Statistics Ph.D. program at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, South Dakota State University. The stipend for the 2009/10 academic year will be $26,084. Students will be mainly advised by Dr. Xijin Ge (http://learn.sdstate.edu/gex/) to conduct research in the broad area of bioinformatics/computational biology. Ongoing projects include gene expression databases and web interface, statistical analyses and data mining of large-scaling genomics data, and evolutionary changes in mammalian gene expression patterns. A master’s degree and strong quantitative skills are required for admission to the CSS Ph.D. program. Students with diverse backgrounds (mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, biology etc.) are encouraged to apply as long as they are interested in solving genomics problems with computational approaches. Applications should be received by Mar. 1 for the fall semester and Nov 1 for the spring semester. For more information about the CSS Ph.D. program, please visit the department’s website at http://mathstat.sdstate.edu. For questions, please contact Donald Vestal (Donald.Vestal@sdstate.edu) or Dr. Ge (Xijin.GE@sdstate.edu). For a list of required documents please see this instruction(http://teach.sdstate.edu/users/gex/PhDapplication.htm).
Postdoctoral position in bioinformatics/genomics at South Dakota State University
South Dakota State University, Brookings, SD, USA
One Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available immediately in South Dakota State University to work with Dr. Xijin Ge (http://learn.sdstate.edu/gex/) to study the evolution of gene expression patterns in mammals by bioinformatics approaches based on DNA microarrays. The successful candidate should have strong bioinformatics background and broad understanding of mammalian genomics, and a Ph.D. or MD with substantial research experience, preferably in the field of bioinformatics/computational biology or genomics. At least two years experience in computer programming and usage of statistics software are required. Please send a cover letter, CV, and the names of three references in a single PDF file to (Xijin.Ge@sdstate.edu).
