TOPIC: ISSUE70 - "In any profession-business, politics, education, government-those in power should step down after five years. The surest path to success for any enterprise is revitalization through new leadership."
WORDS: 674          TIME: 00:39:32          DATE: 2009-3-2 10:49:12

Many countries share a similar policy that they elect new leaders every four or five years, which is fit for revitalization and prevention of corruption. However, is there any necessity that we should branch this to other fields such as business, education, government or so forth? The statement that in any profession those in power should step down after five years; the surest path to success for any enterprise is revitalization through new leadership is open to doubt. In my opinion, in some realms there is necessity to carry on this policy while in the others sightless rotate of leadership seems does no good. We should make a concrete analysis of concrete problems.
The biggest fact of modern society is that everything changes in a unprecedented rate since the Industrial Revolution. Five years is long enough for the world to have a completely different appearance. There is a famous rule in computer fields called Moore's Law, which indicate that the capability of computer will be doubled every 18 months. This could serve as a well example for the rapid vicissitude of the current world. Given this we would easily draw the conclusion that in order to survive individuals and enterprises should are keep with the pace of time - knowing the latest progression of the world.
It is widely accepted that young minds are most easily being creative and acquire nascent things, which is most obviously in science research - many of the world's greatest scientific discoveries are found by the scientists who are in there youth. A striking example is the well-known physicist Bohr, who made the foundation of quantum mechanics by putting forward a theory that could explain the unusual attributes of hydrogen atom - the Bohr Theory. Perhaps Bohr is not famous enough for letting everyone realize the importance of young minds to our society, then the next example will surely shock you. Since we know one of the greatest three projects in the twenty century is the Human Genome Project (HGP), how many people know the fact that Watson and Crick, who won Nobel Prize for their contribution found the structure of DNA molecule - the theoretical basement of HGP when they were only at their 30’s?
While young minds are good at creation, our doyens' experience is the most precious treasure that we have ever had. Without our ancestor's great works we would start from zero no matter what we are working at. Well taking advantages of the experience from our doyens gives our the ability of avoiding making same mistakes and could move further. As Isaac Newton said, we are standing on the shoulder of the giants.
Since both the young minds' creativity and the doyens' experience are of great importance for us to succeed, we should find the best equilibrium between the two. This depends on the concrete situation of the problem and should not be taken blindly by a same way. In political realm, as talked above, the policy that president changes every four or five years is appropriate because that new leaders will surely bring new ideas to the problems of the nation. Besides, this kind of policy is good for arouse competition and therefore somehow prevent the occurrence of corruption. In science realm, as the same case we should also value the contribution of revitalization. However, there seems to be no need for business realm to carry on such a policy. As we all know business calls for more experience rather than the intrepidity and creativity, thus doyens are most important for enterprises in order to survive in the business world full of traps. The best way to balance young minds' creativity and doyen's experience is to analyze concretely on concrete problems.
In sum, I believe people should value both creativity and experience. Whether leaders in any profession should step down after five years and whether the surest path to success for any enterprise is revitalization through new leadership depends on the concrete situation - one can never draw any conclusion on this sightlessly.

It is widely accepted that young minds are most easily being creative and acquire nascent things(are full with creative opinions and more easy to acquire nascent things), which is most obviously in science research - many of the world's greatest scientific discoveries are found by the scientists who are in their youth. Perhaps Bohr is not famous enough for letting everyone realize the importance of young minds to our society, then the next example will surely shock you(moving on to a more wide/persuasive theme我知道的另一个关于进一步论证的表达). Since we know one of the greatest three projects in the twenty century is the Human Genome Project (HGP), how many people know the fact that Watson and Crick, who won Nobel Prize for their contribution found the structure是不是少个介词 of DNA molecule - the theoretical basement of HGP when they were only at their 30’s?(为什么问句结尾) 年轻人的优势

正好看到这篇参考下思路,顺便发表下意见

我觉得文章写成了年轻人和非年轻人的比较(有创造性vs经验),感觉跟领导角色不是特别相关;
另外文章中举到的科学的例子也都是科学发现,这些人不见得就适合in power

总而言之,new Leadership不是young Leadership
