I am in favor of the proposal that teachers should assign daily homework to their students. It is undeniable that the study burden pressed on the students is becoming even heavier as the competition in the society is becoming even fiercer simultaneously. But to throw light upon my personal idea, the daily homework I mean will be confined into a proper amount. To make it more clearly, my definition of the homework shall be carried out like this: the students are surly able to accomplish their school work coupled with a relatively adequate leisure time. A series of reasons motivate me to choose this statement.

To begin with, the homework is an effective way for students to have a better understanding of what they learn and apply their knowledge to solve actual problems without doubt. Imagine that teachers just keep on teaching new chapters and never assign homework, how many points do you think the students could remember let alone make full use of? The answer is obvious that students either forget or are not proficient at the application. What if some planned homework is added through the process of learning? For instance, when I started to learn English, our teacher usually taught lots of words in the class and told us to make sentences with the words lately studied after class. Then the next day, our teacher would correct our papers and picked up some excellent ones to share with us. In this way, we not only keep the words in mind, but we also acquire the words to a higher degree in which we achieve the goal to use them well. Skipping over this step, we could not grasp this foreign language so well as to exert it smoothly.

Perhaps, some people refute this statement by saying that students themselves own the ability to arrange their time wisely, teachers’ assignment may distort their own plans. As far as I am concerned, it mainly depends on what kind of students they are and how old they are. Appropriate guide and assignments are needed for children on account for their shortage in controlling themselves and what is the right thing to pursue. It is every child’s nature to seize every chance to play and their curiosity about the world distracts them easily. Their study is likely to halt or they are prone to dropping out of school if they are allowed to make decisions by themselves. Consequently, a majority of these children will regret not having a responsible teacher to govern them in their childhood when they grow up. The situation for the teenagers who lack the perseverance is just similar to the above one except that the latter ones know explicitly the right thing to undertake but they cannot focus on it. Therefore, that is why the college students deserve the freedom to set their own schedule which turns out to be a wonderful approach for students’ further development.

General speaking, the assignments seem unnecessary under certain circumstances while in most of the cases, they are proven to work on students’ learning. Considering this I advocate the idea that teachers leave reasonable homework for students’ spare time.
