Nowadays, when it comes to a vital topic of whether drivers need to pay a fee during the traffic jam time in order reduce the pressure on traffic jam, there are always different viewpoints among the general public in society. Traffic jam has already been a crucial and complex issue for a period of time, but in my opinion, it is unwise of asking drivers to pay for the traffic problem.
First of all, how to give a scientific price and specific period for charging? As a matter of fact, there is not standard for measuring the traffic jam time, and it is hard to tell the most accurate for money taking.(you mean ”the most accurate time for the money paying?”) At the same time, how much drivers should pay is another a controversy. Provided one dollar each time, vehicles might be as many as before. But if the price is too high, citizens might be angry about it and fight against the policy.
Secondly, drivers stand on a line waiting to pay a fee is still a waste of time. Imagine after office time, you hurry to drive home for making delicious dinner for family, but you are blocked by several toll stations on the way home. No doubt, you have to stand on line and wait for your turn, which is slower than waiting for traffic lights. Main city streets should be efficient way for drivers, which should not be crowded of toll stations of forcing vehicles to stop.建议参考这一段The modern city consists of monstrous edifices and of dark, narrow streets full of petrol fumes and toxic gases, torn by the noise of the taxicabs, lorries and buses, and thronged ceaselessly by great crowds.
Furthermore, compared with many other solutions, asking drivers to pay a fee is a superficial policy. For instance, on one side, it is wise for government to change each offices working time in order to separate people's time on the streets. On the other side, they can also expend city main streets for more vehicles or build more subways of leading people to choose public traffic instead of driving. Those solutions are better than money taking.
In conclusion, I totally disapprove the policy of taking money from drivers at the traffic jam time. We should not deal with traffic problem on surface, instead, more efficient policy should be found to erase drivers worry about traffic jam. |
