Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People can learn more from watching television than reading books. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

I should say that whether we can learn more from watching television than reading books varies under distinct circumstances. Furthermore the information available in both media is different and so are the features owned by these two media. Thus they each have remarkable merits.

Books are considered one of the most effective methods of transmitting profound knowledge in a systemic way. I will exemplify my experience in university to support this opinion. In most of the cases, we still rely on books to study our curriculum instead of staring at the television screen all the time. Needless to say books are intended to inform readers of the thoughts of authors or the expertise or specialized knowledge. And the goal of books is to illuminate their ideas explicitly, which makes them more suitable for the process of learning. That is why we cannot discard books completely even other media like the Internet have developed rapidly. Additionally, books can be read repeatedly as long as we are willing to while it sounds hard to control the television programs according to our tastes.

However, watching television takes advantage over reading books in several aspects. First, the amount of information contained by television programs is amazingly immense. For instance, news covering the whole world is released during approximately five minutes news programs. It may cost a lot of time when reading books. Second, accounting for the audience rating which decides the profit of the channels to a large extent, television programs are changing on the basis of spectators’ appetites. In other words, our needs or desires are promising to be satisfied. At the same time, we can enjoy our favorite programs in our leisure time to learn about some the subjects appealing to us. Another reason is that programs on the television are more interesting than contents in books. The complex theories and philosophy are enough to exhaust or bore a learner. Therefore the attractive programs are chosen to relax ourselves after a long time on reading.

From this angle of viewing the question, both of the two media bring about positive effect during the study procedure. Selecting which on from the two lies on the situation we confront with.

抱歉!这周周六考T,先占楼,回来改~~:loveliness:

抱歉现在才改。
文章基本没有什么错误。表达较为顺畅。只是平衡的观点确实不是太好写,感觉作者像是在写选择哪一个的类型。。。。而且,题目问的是同步同意“从电视当中得到的知识比看书得到的多”,而作者最后的总结却是“Selecting which on from the two lies on the situation we confront with.”感觉有些跑题。。。
个人观点,仅供参考。有什么问题咱们再讨论。:loveliness:

一是不好写
二是不容易博得评分者的好感
