Some movies are serious, designed to make the audience think. Other movies are designed primarily to amuse and entertain. Which type of movie do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer(03/23/07).

Have ever too excited to sleep after an amazing movie? Have ever couldn't help bursting into tears for some emotional shows? Have ever split your sides with laughter at certain moments in films? Provided you have never had such experiences, you would have no idea which is the most expressive movie to you. For my honesty, vivid movies can’t live without neither seriousness nor recreation.

To begin with, watching movies is helpful for most of audiences to forget their terrible work and relax for couple of hours. That is to say, people need movies to entertain them, and all the painful and unhappy things will disappear after laugh. Accordingly, it is reasonable for directors to add funny elements into films. Funny elements, on the other side, are still useful in cartoons. Funny characters like Winne Pooh and Mickey Mouse frequently attract children's eyes. I am also a fan of cartoons because all the happy characters can lead me back to my memorable childhood, and make me always optimistically believe my dreams will come true.

Secondly, movies are not just for entertaining, they can also be all-around teachers to audiences. As a matter of fact, seriousness in movies brings us knowledge about history, culture, technological development, etc. For instance, Titanic's significant success tells which kind of movie is the most popular. After watching it, the real history of the crash of Titanic has been known by the world and the true love between Jack and Rose affected most of the audiences. I've already watched it for five times, one sentence of lines is vivid in my mind, which is "make each day count". I use it to grasp every chance in my life and exert my utmost in everyday's work.

There is little doubt that both seriousness and recreation are essential in an impressive movie. Although Titanic isn't a movie for entertaining, there is still some laugh moments making audiences laugh without stop. On the other side, cartoons seems like funny and relaxing, as a matter of fact, those films always teach children the importance of being honest and sincere.

For the reasons presented above, I strongly suggest audiences to watch movies with both seriousness and recreation. Killing two birds with one stone, watching those films, we can get knowledge and laughter at the same time.
