When it comes to a vital topic of whether it is better to spend money on valuable merchandise rather than waste them on short-term pleasures, there are always diverse viewpoints among the general public in society. Honestly, my colleagues frequently argue about it in our office. In the long run, the significance of saving money for long-term benefit can never be exaggerated.

To begin with, a large majority of people are dreaming about driving an expensive car and living in a luxury villa. Honestly, it is not easy to afford them, and wasting means on short-term pleasures would make your dream much further. Most of my colleagues agree with my opinion. As a matter of fact, many of them already got married, and at the same time, they realized the importance of saving money for a house of their own. In our lunch time, I can always hear their regret about how they waste money beforehand, and now they can not even afford a small house in our city. In conventional people's mind, there are three steps in building a family, having a new house, getting married and having babies. No house, no further life. Accordingly, it is wise for us to save enough money for our long-term benefit.

Furthermore, spending means on things that last long time is a kind of investment in which we would probably earn enough money for later an oversea vacation. Although many people lost their fortune during the economic crisis recently, most of them have already profited a lot from the highly price rising of real estate, gold, stock, etc. For instance, in my home town, people enjoy this kind of investment, including my parents. My uncle bought a house several years ago, now the price of house he own is doubled. In the long run, valuable merchandise is worth to buy.

There is little doubt that temporal pleasures can not everlasting like diamond. Provided concerning about offspring, parents always want to give children everything. Consequently, it is wise of keeping stable property, including insurance, house, jewelry, etc. Responsible human beings would not waste much means on merchandise for their own, instead, they would work hard and exert their utmost to create a better life for their posterities.

For the reasons presented above, I strongly approve of the statement that it is wise to spend means on long-term merchandise instead of temporal pleasures. Doing this is not only for ourselves, but it is also beneficial for our descendants.
