I think it’s not completely true to say that it is better for children to grow up in the countryside than in the big city, vice versa. Because every coin has two sides, which environment shall we choose for our children to grow up in depends on which kind life we are pursuing. There always be merits and demerits for any choice. I will give more explanation in the following words.
First of all, let’s talk about the childhood in countryside. Study shows that the children, age 6 to age10, live in the countryside are usually healthier both physically and mentally than those live in the big cities. The reason is that the countryside provides clean air, healthy food and unrestricted environment for children to live in. I grown up in countryside, if mention my hometown and childhood, there always be the peaceful place with beautiful nature view—blue sky, green grasses, clean air and genial neighbors. It’s really a haven for children to enjoy their precious childhood year, which the children live in big city can’t have. But there are still demerits to live far away from the city. Take medical care conditions for example: advanced medical technologies are converged in big cities, rural area are usually lack of basic medical conditions, let infants’ medical care alone. So, the infected infants may miss the best time for cure if they live too far from cities.
Secondly, I want to discuss the childhood in big cities. We all know that education is one of the most important things for any child. Big city provide the best services for all the educational needs of children, which make all the parents wishes come true that their children can develop comprehensively in varied kinds of abilities such as singing, dancing and drawing, etc. So in this respect, city childhood is obviously more favorable than countryside childhood.
In conclusions, every choice has its own advantages and disadvantages, to breed children in countryside or big city depends on which kind of life do you pursue.
