In your opinion, what is the most important characteristic (for example, honesty, intelligence, a sense of humor) that a person can have to be successful in life? 103. The most important characteristic that a person can have to be successful
Different people hold various views on which characteristic is essential to a successful life. Compared to the characteristics such as independence、hard-working、intelligence, I would like to say, it is a sense of humor that a successful person should have as the most essential characteristic. A sense of humor can help you not only act well on work but also keep in psychological and physical health.

People with a sense of humor would like to have more chances to success on career. A humor worker can have more harmony relationship with his colleagues. To be a widely welcomed people, undoubtedly, he is more likely to be promoted. Another side, humor can release the pressure of work. Nowadays, as the financial crisis of 2008 make many companies suffer huge losses. In china, unemployment rate have raised to 9.4% in 2008. Employees face fiercer competition and pressure of solve new problems caused by this crisis. An optimistic attitude is necessary when people overcome these difficulties. as far as I concerned, humor is a suitable method to keep hopeful.

As an important characteristic, Humor affect dramaticaly on people’s psychological and physical health keeping.
Modern medicine technology provide that laugh can relaxe muscles, lower the blood pressure, eliminate nerve tension. “Wear a smile, a decade less”, how often we hear such words like this. Most people who have a sense of humor have an optimistic attitude towards masses in life, thus they laugh more often than those who is not humorous. So, they more likely to be physical, or mental soundness. Take a real story happened in Wenchuan earthquake as an example, a boy who was buried in ruins eighty hours ask a bottle of freezing Coca cola after he was saved humorously. This humorous “Coca cola boy” use his optimism to survive through this disaster and encourage the other people to overcome the problems brought by the earthquake.

Although many other characteristics play important roles on success ,they could not lead to happiness. Successful life does not only means wealthy, it also means happy. Only with humor can people enjoy a happily successful life. Obviously, humor is an essential characteristic of a successful person.
