12.Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? High schools should allow students to study the courses that students want to study. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

I disagree with the statement,though the majority of people may probably support it.Frankly speaking,people who agree with the statement usually give one or two of the following reasons.The first is that letting students choose their favorate courses may inspire their enthusiasms in study.then they would probably enlarge their knowledge with a more efficient and proper way.secondly, students,who study the courses that they want to study,may broaden their socail network owing to the broader possibility of making a friend in common.Generally speaking ,students who choose the same course likely have relatively interests and build a friendship further more easily.Though it may offer some interesting possibilities,but with all the following drawbacks,I assure that it is
premature to let students select their courses totally freely.



In my opinion,allowing students to study courses totally according to their interests may inhibit the effectiveness of the school's management.Since students' interests vary from one by one,the courses students want to take may differentiate in a large range.It is likely that only a few students choose to take a various courses while ample students choose a single one. Then it is hard for the school to deal with  the intensive problem,such as which courses should be provide for them ,how many teachers should assign to a specific course.Therefore,the manager of school need to balance the students’ needs and the school’s limited resources.The hard-controlled balance probably may result in uneffectively allocation.Obviously,this situation may cause somewhat chaos and unnecessary high operation cost.



Further more,it is useless for students to build a complete profound knowledge frame which plays a crucial part in the ability to create and advance.If students study the course they want to study,they must choose the courses they know or want to know.In other words,they may miss some essential but less well known courses.fortunately,with the professors’ introduction student can know the coherence between different courses within a field.Overall,owing to their limited education and experience,the students are not able to arrange their course scheme systematically and applicably.



At last,it may be safe for us to conclude that students choose courses both under the professors’ guidelines and students’ interests,instead of only according to the students’ own desire, can be a much more prudent alternative.

Furthermore, studying the desirable courses, students can broaden their socail network owing to the broader possibility of meeting friends with relatively common interests. As far as I am concerned, though allowing students choose courses indepently may offer some interesting possibilities, it is premature to let students select their courses totally freely with all the following drawbacks.
