Generally speaking, there are two observation methods; eyes and
Instruments. In my opinion, observation by eyes is subjective, and observation
By instruments is not purely objective, because the instrument were invented
By human. However, it is rather superficial to simply say that all observation
Is subjective and it is always guided by the observer's expectations.

Admittedly, observation by eyes will be affected by observer's emotion,
Feelings and desires. Since humans are sentient, observations by sense organs
Are easily influenced by feelings. So different person has different impressions
Towards somebody. For example, I fall in love with my girl friend, and I
Considered that she was so adorable and beautiful. Nevertheless, other guys
Who are my friends say to me "she is just a normal girl, and you like her
outward appearance due to your passion." I agree with the argument that this
different observation towards the same person is caused by my love for my
Girl.


Nonetheless, that is not to say that all observation is subjective. The human
Race invented so many kinds of instrument in order to observe objectively.
These instruments record objective things without subjective affectation.
Since design of these instrument followed by principles of physics or
chemistry that is laws of nature, the records of these instrument are objective
And reflect attribute or condition of objects that are observed. For instance,
thermometer records the temperature in air, speedometer records velocity of a
Car, and camera in satellites records the topography.

In addition, not all observations by instruments is not guided by observer's
Desire or expectation. In most cases, people decide what objects should be
Observed, when they be observed. So observer's expectation usually has an
Impact on observation. Although the observation itself is objective, the results
May be not. As my major is geology, I will take an example to illustrate the
Situation. Scientists are interested in climate change during the past two
Thousand years which is a key to understand climate change in future.
Someone argued that climate during the past 2,000 years is warmer than the
Present, while others hold a different attitude. So they looked for geological
evidences to support their arguments. However, when they observe the
Geological records, they usually pay more attention on the records that support
their opinions and ignore the evidences that oppose their ideas. Therefore, some observations is
Guided by observer’s desires.

To sum up, some observations is subjective while other observations is
Objective. Some observations is guided by observer's expectations or desires,
But other observations is not affected.
