Since the first ape man stood upright in African continent, human being staged on history arena and mastered the rest types of animal by relatively advanced brain and high sociability. They established their groups all around this plante and developed their society with an unbelievable speed, this speed has been accelerated over and over again with the time pass and never slowed down. Then, what is the endless potential power accounts for this progress? Denfinately, is education, or to be precise, effective education. Again, what kind of education can be honored as an effecive one? Does it designed specifically to meet the individual needs for him/her interests’ growth or generally to lay an universal foundation for their further exploration of knowledge? This is an everlasting debate in educational realm and the final accepted answer is never emerging. Considering the responsibilities of education towarding society and person’s development, I believe that an effective education should be designed with generally considered which can lighten human’s mind and keep society’s harmony, as well as specifically categoried, which depend on scientific subjects rather than each student’s interests, in order to nuture corresponding genius and propel society move forward continually.
One may argue that only the specifically designed education which is fully accordance to a student’s characterestics can be called an effective one, because only in this way, the student’s interests can get a thoroughly development and their potential can be observed easily. This statement is ture, however it ignored the origenal propose of educaton which is enlighten the ignorant person with moral and behavior rule of human being and ensure the constant progress of society. How can an education satisfy these requirements as it just designed to meet individual’s needs? And if not, how can this kind of education be considered as an effective one? What’s more, let education designed to be suitable to each student’s desire is almost a impossible mission since teaching resource is limited and the number of teacher is sharply less than that of student. Bearing this reality, how can a teacher organize individual education plan towarding each student to appealing his/her apptites when there are 30 ones and how can the teacher ensure each plan is an effective one? No one has such energy and time. Further, without a whole picture of all kinds of art and natural science showed to students at the beginning of their education, students even cannot discover what they turely interested in, then what educator depend on when they design the individual education’s curricum? Actually, education should be categoried into various subjects and pursued by students rather than persue them.
As for the personal development, truly effective education has three goals needed to attain. Instilling moral rules of human being and the traditional culture upon which the nation established is a fundamental one. When childern entered school at first time, their mind and brain still in an undeveloped condition, they just like trapped in a dark cave and do not know the fabulous scenario of outside world. The qualified effective education seems as a light of wisdom which shed into the cave and point out a path which can lead the chilrden out from the darkness. This road is moral and behavior rule which make students be familiar with their own culture and be nice person. These are prerequisites before students enter society and are necessary foundations for students be acceptted by society and to explore their future. In addition, introducing stuents into the scienctific realm and helping kindle the passion and curious for knowledge in their heart is the second goal of effective education. When students go out of the cave, effective education seems as a light shed into students’ eye of soul, which are dim previously, and let them enjoy the beauty of scientific realm, then observe sparks for some particular subjects which hidden in their heart. Until now, effective education paves various paths according to scientific category for different students to choose, depended upon their own interests, and carry on their further exploration on this road. At last, effective education also should equip basic living and specified working skills for students which enable them to be independent in the future. In this turn, effective education serves as a pragmatic and updated tool provieded to students in order to help them be independent and fashion bright future belonging to themselves. lacking any one of above three goals, any education cannot be called as effective, let along missing all of them, as the case of specified planned education to each individual. That is why I contend the effective education should be generally desigened in favor of satisfing personal progress of students.
The other responsibility of effective education are related to keeping society’s harmony and propelling society’s progress in right track. Human has considerable desires for pleasure and would like to satisfy them by as much as possible means, which included just and unjust ones. Education’s role here is serve as an effective frame which limit people’s behavior within a moral cricle, that means do not hurt others’ benefits when they pursuing their own happiness. By doing this, effective education laid a moral foundation for society which enable to maintain the society’s harmony and peace. Only possess this nice condition could a society have opportunity for further development, which also be ascribed to effective education. With time change, society’s needs for progression are various correspondingly. Effective education can deduce or even prospect the demanding of society and steer itself to a right direcion in order to satisfy these demanding in the largest degree. Therefore, when effective education plan its curricum, it will take the whole circumstance of national and scientific prograss into account. However, education which olny aiming at meeting individual’s needs cannot support the whole society’s stabilization and advancement, since it even does not consider society’s whole good at all.
According to above discussion, we can find the truly effective education is the one which fulfilling both personal and societal appealing for development and capable to balance the subtle relationship between these two demandings. thus, it must be designed with all-rounded consideration rather than just satisfy each individual’s appitites. |
