Every dynasty has its own history, every country has its own history, in addition, every country and every society have still been recording their history. Does it really for breaking down the illusion that there is a significant difference between people recently and the people in the past? Furthermore, is it the chief benefit of the study of history? If so, is there a need for all of the society in different period to record their society?
There is no doubt that no matter how the society develops, humanity is constant such as selfish, greed and curiosity. People share a belief, for example, that throughout the human society, it is the greed that incent the development of society for people no matter in which society who always want to get more, want live a better life although they are already living out a relative good life so that they have to work harder and harder leading to a rapid develop of society. In a no dissimilar way, the curiosity is the murder to unknown for scientists who explore the mystery in and out universe. In any history book, it is common to find the above on the people in different time.
However, at the same time, we also can’t pay a suspicion attitude to these person having liven in different periods that there are countless differences whether on clothing, diet or on thinking pattern due to the develop of technology and economy. Because of the improving economical level, people are concerned to clothing not only on warming but on fashion which, of course, must attribute to the development of technology. It is the technology that makes the material of clothing various. Similarly, on diet, today people pay attention to healthy diet in place of repletion. On these aspect, different people in different time hold a unlike opinion.
Obviously, history provides a abound material to know of the dissimilar and similar in different time. But if the purpose just is that, historian needn’t take pains to study the history in different time. a series of history is full. The fact is contrast. And what is the truth of studying history is the major benefit
It is because of the predicting future and then bringing benefit to modern society that one generation and the next generation goes on having a research on history. Firstly , from the history events, we can prevent the similar calamity from happening again. Lessons from economic crisis, for example, can prevent the occurrence of it again in future. Secondly, if we can search the trend that how the society develop, we can predict what will happen next, and what we shall do to reply. Not only we but also our generation can gain great benefit from it.
To sum up, there are both similarity and dissimilarity between people recently and people in the past, and at the time breaking down the illusion is not our chief benefit of the study of history. It is the chief benefit that gaining lessons from calamity in history and then exerting it to modern society bringing benefits to us and next generation.
