Ever get a ringing in your ears after a loud blast (of) music on your ipod? That is one example of a usually temperate condition called (tinnitus  [ti'naitəs]), the sensation of sound even when no sound has been produced. But a new invention created by high school students may help. The (cochlea ['kɔkliə]) in the ear converse(converts) sound wave to electrical impulses that the brain possess as sound. Thousands of tiny hairs in the cochlea (连读bend) when it is exposed to regional(original) sound vibrations. But these hairs can get (stuck粘住stick的过去式) in the bent position which is why we heard the sound even when it’s gone. Two young women in (Ireland) were studying the problem in the physical class. They thought that the low (hum哼曲子,嗡嗡) might straight(en) out those bent cochlea hairs. So they developed a mini-long therapy using the hum and test it on 250 subjects. 99% person of the (tinnitus) suffers said the treatment (got rid)of the disturbing (phantom[ˈfæntəm]鬼怪,幻象) sound. The two eighteen years olds(and their) physical teacher have now launched a company called restored hearing -good news for the iPod generation from two of their zone(own) who fought fire with fire or rather sound with sound.

US president (Barack) Obama said that the G-20 leaders agree on conquer(concrete混凝土,实在具体的) step to prevent another financial (meltdown) like the current one that has pushed millions of people into unemployment and caused(cost) trillions of dollars in lost wealth. “never again should we (let) the (schemes a reckless 鲁莽,不计后果的few put ) the world financial system of(and our) people’s will be in(wellbeing) at risk. (好句子,果然是总统,说话多有水平!呵呵)” he said the agreement generally increases the regulation of the financial system, and cause(calls) for banks to keep large reserves to cover the last(losses of bad loans [ləun]and) failed investments. He said the leaders (crafted手工,制作) procedures to cope with failure of major financial firms(商行) in their orderly way that minimizes its damage to these financial system and the public treasury.(国库,金库) And he said there will be new rules governing the way bankers get paid. “we will tie exactly(executive执行官) pay to long term performance, so that sound 合理的 decision to awarded(rewarded报答) in stead of short term grade(greed贪吃).”  European leaders want (specific) limits on the huge bonuses that criticized(critics said) in currange(encouraged) bankers to take ra(reckless) risk in pursuit of short term profits. The agreement stopps short of that because of (but calls for) complex rules and tenders(intended) to restrain bonus payments. Mr. obama said the economic picture has improved, but with(there is) a long way to go before recovery is complete. Many G20 members haven’t(have been) tried(trying) to boost([bu:st], bolster [ˈbəulstə]支撑) their economies by cutting interest rates in(这个得熟悉,美音的and常常读成 ənd) raising spending on public works. The leaders said the (fledgling [ˈfledʒliŋ]n.刚学飞的幼鸟,无经验的人) recovery still needs help, and pledge(保证,誓言) to continue stimulated(stimulus n.刺激物) efforts for a while. And leaders of world’s worfill(wealthiest) nations including Britain’s priminister(prime minister) Gordon Brawn and heads of key emergent(emerging浮现的) economies agreed to use G20 as a form to debate and decide international economic issues. “the G20 will might (now)be seen as a (premier [ˈpremiə]首要的,首相) economic organization for dealing world(with) issues of economic (management) around the world.” That’s a change from the tradition of putting such issues for the G8 made of mostly wealthy western nations. The change recognizes[ˈrekəgnaiz] that developing countries like India and China have(are) a large and growing share of the world’s economic output产量,输出. C M university economic professor LL says the economic crisis made the change urgent. “your people and economic (are being)put a(at) risk by nations that are (?not) necessarily thinking about you or their good. So I think you would want to have more (of a) say发言权 in which(what’s) going on. ” the two day of summer(summit顶点,峰会) in Pittsburgh is the third meeting of G20 leaders in less than a year as nations struggle to ease the recession. Their efforts didn’t impress the thousands of protests this year who complain the global economic system is unfair, and the G20 nations do too little to help the poor. Police made some arrest and used tear gas to cope with some of the demonstrations.

believe it or not, depression can be good for your health. ok, not that kind of depression, an economic depression. according to work published in the persiding of the national economy of sciences, people actually got healthier during the great depression.

on september 1st, we run a story about the health benefits of a good reception. and we received several incredrual responses, some listeners formerly believe, that people eat and drink and smoke more when their finances are bleak. no along comes another study of life and death during a grand  of economic down towns. this time, researchers find that life expectency actually increased during the years of the great depression. yes, the read of suisiside also increased, but only a count for two percent of deaths.

so what makes economic good times bad for us, economic growth has been linked to work-related stress, less sleep on the jaw, accidents, traffic fatalities and more pollution. plus spending more time at work can mean spending less time carrying for six family members. so when the economy tends healthy again, let more like works stealing in time might make a sought bit healthier as well.

Being drunk might make you more accident prone(这个表达好), but it also increases your chance of survival. Research published in the journal American Surgeon(外科医生) reveals that trauma(外伤, 伤口; 创伤) patients are more likely to survive if they were intoxicated(intoxicate v.  使陶醉; 醉人) at the time of their injury.
A retrospective(回顾的, 在后面的, 怀旧的) study of nearly 8,000 trauma patients found that seven percent of people who came in sober(
v.  使清醒, 使严肃; 醒酒; 变得冷静; 清醒起来; 变得严肃

adj.  清醒的, 节制的, 稳重的

) died of their injuries, while those who were hurt while drunk only died one percent of the time. A positive blood alcohol level seemed to increase the likelihood of survival, even after the researchers took into account (
重视; 考虑)the age of the patient and the severity(n.  严格; 严肃; 严厉; 猛烈) of the injury. Trauma patients who came in to the hospital drunk were discharged sooner, too.
Exactly how alcohol protects the injured is still not clear. But a past study on animals did find that ethanol ( 乙醇, 酒精)protected against nerve damage. The new work hints that alcohol might have a place in treating traumatic(【形】外伤的; 创伤的; 外伤用的) injuries, although more research is needed. In the meantime, avoiding trauma in the first place is still the strategy one might call most sober.

今天刚听完结果不小心点到个人中心了。。。
