In modern society, technologies, a singal of hunman progression, has palyed a more and more role. Generally speaking, technolgies influence all aspects of human society including our morality . Yet, the speaker maintain that technologies can detemime customs and ethics which I cannot totally agree.

Firstly, technologies surely influence customs and ethics in many ways. Before we take another step to clearify this statement, we need to answer the question that what is technologies? Russell, the most important philosopher in last  centry, onced said (and I paraphrase)"technologies,the outcome of human emprical world, is a kind of ambition of exploration of unknown for true answer". In this sense, technologies change our knowledge about outside world and therefore influence ethics. For a long time, we are discussing  if somebody choose to finish his or her own life, do we have the right to end up someone's life as that person' wish. We cannot imagine this discussion before technologies make such a progress. Another example is the problem of clone. Technologies of gene call for a new attidude to our human beings. Is it moral that I copy myself to do something I need? Will the clone bring a unimaginable aftermath to us? Discussions like these show a tremdency that technologie will play important part in our moral system.

On the other hand, technologies develop a rational spirit and critical think which has become customs of modern society.  Witchcraft used to dominate this world so long and people cannot think by themselvs because they need a explanation to all things, even it is a unjustifiable explanation. Yet, people in this time posses the spirit of rational analysis which is the core walue of science and technologies. Thus, technologies participate to construct our customs system and better human souls.

However, technologies cannot determime customs and ethics.  Even darwinism have many evidences to support its theory, religion field still resist the agressive entrance of darwinism. Because technologies is the outcome of our emprical world and we still know little about universe, that means all judgements from science and tecnologies may just historical judgement. Human beings need eternal faith to sustain our spiritual world. Moreover, technologies is not the only factor that influence our customs. Socrates, the famous philosopher of ancient Greece, used to ask questions such as what is beauty and what is justice. These problems encourage numerous philosophers to persue the truth. Socrates's critical thinking has became a good quality of human beings and a custom of our society. It is obvious that philosophy, politics,arts and so on are also the factors of influencing customs and ethics.

To sum up, technologies surely influence our customs and ethics, however, it is not the only factor. In fact, if technologies whic is artificial determime our spiritual world, then all the ethics and customs can be changed by people who change the technologies. The aftermath may dangerous for the reason that our thought and our spirit may be controled by people who possess technologies. For that matter, autocracy may be possible. To avoid this situation, we have to separate customs and ethics from technologies as Kant said "limit knowledge and left the field for our faith".
