Issue 50


"In order to improve the quality of instruction at the college and university level, all faculty should be required to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach."




The development of science is the main topic of the word, which led to the stiff competition between countries and university, and the key problem is how to improve the quality of instruction at the college which decides the quantity and quality of the scientists and the achievement in scientific. What should we do to improve the quality of instruction? It is no doubt that we can require the all faculty to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach but we also need a suitable supervision system to restrict and encourage the teacher.


Necessarily through the outside relevant to the courses they teach, which led to enrich the knowledge and experience from the life, can all faculty broaden the horizon and be inspired by the working. After all, the school campus , where the students and teachers live every day, limited the chance of exchangers and comes into close contact with the outside world which result in the preventing develop of the academic. For example, a professor of vehicle design who attend the group of F1 McLaren, can apply his knowledge to practice in the company and rich the experience-cannot be simply studied in the classroom, from the most advance car. After the whole working, obviously, the professor's class wound not just be limited in the book because he had brought the real application for the students who will never feel tedious about the class. Benefited from the outside working, the professor' class fosters students' interest of their major which led to the phenomenon of the class becomes unprecedented active because of the debate and argument in a scholarly way. Though stimulation the creativity and passion of the student can we just achieve the goal of improvement the quality of instruction.



It also necessarily through the system of supervision which closely relates to the interest of all faculty that the quality of the instruction can have sustained improve. With various methods of supervision, such as students' estimation and the performance test, hold every half semester, the teacher will never have the intention of relaxing about the instruction. As a survey shows, the individuals or teams work under a strict system of supervision will, definitely, have a much more passion and vigor than the others who are simply in a common situation. Under the pressure and the temptation of the reward, people's potential can be inspired immediately, so does the teacher. The entire faculty will do the best to adapt their method of teaching, in order to meet the demand of student and development of the instruction.



In general, to improve the quality of instruction, we need to take both of the internal and external factors into account. Spending time working outside the university, the external opportunity, and the inspiring the potential and enthusiastic of the working through the system of supervision, the internal factor, will, no doubt, play significant roles in the practice of development of the instruction.

第一段:扩展视野,举例是维修技师(工程师)
第二段:这段很晦涩,我理解是在监督下工作能够提高效率(?)。建议这段大修,重新写一遍

问题存在于两个方面
1.        不少地方的意思并没有阐述清楚,太执着于用长的,复杂的句型了,实际上意思是最重要的
2.        说服力不够,或者说观点比较老旧,老观点要写出新花样,其实我很推崇完全反过来的写法,就是说反对外出任教,可以说读起来会让人耳目一新。
