ARGUMENT105 - The following appeared in a health newsletter.
"According to a recent study, people with many social ties report catching colds less often than do people with few social ties. Consequently, researchers conclude that having an active social life probably helps strengthen the immune system. The researchers note that catching a cold-one of a family of highly contagious viruses-gives the cold-sufferer temporary immunity to that virus in the future, but not to the many other related viruses. Merely being exposed to a new cold virus, however, is not enough for a person to catch a cold, since a strong immune system can successfully fight off some new viruses. Thus, in order to prevent catching a cold, people should strengthen their immune systems by

becoming more active socially."

The editorial argues that people should strengthen their immune systems by becoming more active socially based on a recent study which shows that the more social ties the less catching cold and a research about the influence virus has on immunity. The statement appears to be reasonable at first glance, however with further consideration, the evidence turns out to be correlational not causal and the study and research need to provide more information in detail in order to be convincing.

First of all, the study provides neither the number of people participate in the survey nor how large scale the survey covered, both of which affect whether the survey supports the conclusion. In addition, the statistics of catching colds is based on people's report, while the people's understandings of catching cold differ. Some may neglect a runny nose if no more symptoms show up; at the same time some may consider a sneeze as the symbol of catching cold. Thus only setting a standard and more concrete information provided, can the study be persuasive.

Another clear flaw the editorial commits is the danger of the highly contagious viruses which give the cold. People's immune system varies from strong to weak, how can we ensure that the kind virus he meet in the social life today won't make him suffer from cold for several days even months which evidently affect his daily life.  That is to say, in order to help strengthen the immune system the suggestion also brings plenty of danger of being sick which will increase along with the increasing frequence of social activities. What's more, the editorial also tells the immunity people gained is temporary and is limited to right the virus not other new ones. That makes it easier to do the math.

Finally, the more is always not the better. Too much social activities aside from work are probably to result in healthy problem such as tiredness and loss of concentration. Besides the unpleasantness is inevitable during the relationship with others. Both of which harms our immune system.

On balance, the evidence the newsletter provided is far from enough and convincing. Also, even if based on the content of editorial we can easily find the conclusion it draws unreasonable. A lot further research and modification need to be done before the suggestion is accessible and acceptable.
no pains, no gains

入题不错

攻击调查,讲完作者的失误之后应该再说一下如果,如果人口基数不够大,如何如何,如果参加者有倾向性,如何如何

仍然是攻击调查,攻击时间跨度不够,一个攻击点重复两次不甚好

Finally, the more is always not the better. Too much social activities aside from work are probably to result in healthy problem such as tiredness and loss of concentration. Besides the unpleasantness is inevitable during the relationship with others. Both of which harms our immune system.

这个确实是可能导致的问题,但是如果能再绕回到疾病上更好,疲惫会导致我们的免疫系统能力下降,进而更加容易感病。或者是愉快的心情让我们不得病云云

On balance, the evidence the newsletter provided is far from enough and convincing. Also, even if based on the content of editorial we can easily find the conclusion it draws unreasonable. A lot further research and modification need to be done before the suggestion is accessible and acceptable.

总的来说,文章的大问题就是没有对每个攻击点深入展开,最少每个攻击点应该有充分地可能性,或者充分地理论推证其不正确。
