Should history places most attention on individuals who affect history or on groups of people who definite history? For my part, as the most part of the history, we should not overlook and can not forget the influence that these people had made.

Above all, I basically understand the deed that history study usually places too much emphasize on individuals. Because, the famous ones, like the stars in the sky of history, is so shinning that we can hardly ignore them. Their stories are so interesting and relevant to almost all the big events of history. If we study them, we study all the big turnings throughout the river of history.

When we pay attention to Sir thomas More, a well-known writer, we get to recognize UTOPIA. further more we can find the shadows of the utopia throughout our history. First, it was raised by plato, in his book REPUBLIC, then it was refered by hundreds of people, some think it supply it and believe in that it will come true some day, some stay against it influenced by the bad phenomena he/she felt in this society. At first, it was only a book or a theory, then, it becomes a significance, a dream, and cause a big discuss on it. Finally, it become parts of the history, as it can reflect the situations on several certain areas and even encourage people to fight for it.

Otherwise, we can not only show our respect to the well-know individuals. bismarck once said: We can not make history, we must wait until it is being made. Nobody, including the famous ones can make history, he/she may light on the fuse of an event which will happen sooner or later, and accelerate the developing of history, but it can not create history. And as the biggest part in history, the groups, always determine the base condition of a society and affect the process of history. If we ignore them, we may know the big events , albeit we will not understand how these events happened. We may know the famous ones, thus we cannot know which factors that impulse them to become famous. We will not know the general environment of an certain area.

In addition, the historical study which only take individuals into account is out of fashion because today, we need to get references from history in many aspects such as the economic developments, the social value system of a certain area, or the general ideology of a certain group. And clearly, the study on the limited individuals can help us little on it, and the judgements concluded through it may be prejudice.

To sum up, what we need is a complete and concrete divided system of history study, not only on the few famous individuals but also on the huge groups of people whose identities have long been forgotten.
