Everyday people make choices, and they do so for the sake of making the best of opportunities and resources available. In spite of this intention, however, whether their choices are worthwhile remains a question.

If you open your computer and search for the definition of "choice", you will find it has various meanings. Here, I would like to discuss the two different but closely related terms: 1) the action of choice; 2) worth of being chosen or preferred. Apparently, the former can be clearly perceived and sensed in our daily life, while the later may reveal much of your mediation, for it can be the result of the action of choice and also vary among people according to individual's value conception.

While the purpose of choices made by most people is to maximize their interests and to best reach their goals, at the least of it, to embody their personalities, an experience conducted by psychologists indicates that sometimes people's choices just make little sense. When the subjects are offered two similar but slightly different card and asked to choose the one, they should manage to give the reason without noticing the cards have been privately changed. And in the second experience, most people chose the card which had been secretly emphasized when introduced with the process of experience. That illustrates the point that choice blindness is a existing phenomena and people's choice are inclined to be influenced by outside world.

This phenomena prevails especially in the world nowadays, when the process of society and increase usage of technology have been providing modern people with more choices than ever before. Thinking of the cases when you stroll at the shopping center and ponder on the different price and design of the same kind of goods, and perhaps your mind are too focused on whether you have made the best choice than the characteristic of each one, which may eventually leads you to the worthless one. Still, though the access of Internet brings much convenience and broader scope for your information searching and selection, chances are that you may start with searching for an example to support your essay but end in playing with a new game. And both of the scenarios manifest a meaningful notion: more choices do not mean worthy choice.

Furthermore, dwelling on the question whether choices we have made are the best can not only be wasting our time, but also make a worthy choice become less meaningful. For example, career choosing after graduation is a common choice facing every colleague student: get a job, go to grad school or study abroad. The decision is so hard to be made that many students even hesitate when they have already made the choice. This affects their feelings about their choices, causes their confusion and makes their choice worthless.

Overall, people nowadays seem to focus on too many aspects yet too narrow a base, therefore making their choice meaningless. More choices round, yet no choice owned is a real tragedy.
