"How children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. Unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society."

Mao Zedong, who was one of the funders of new China, once said to young students, as I paraphrase, "you are the sun at eight to nine o'clock in the morning", "the world belongs to us, but more to you". By all odds, children are the backbone of a society and a nation and, thus, how they are socialized would determine the destiny of a society, as the speaker says. On the other hand, I also agree with the opinion that nowadays, people have not yet learned how to raise children to help bulid a better society.
In the first place, we have to admit that how children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. Without any doubt, people who are children now will be the beams of a society after some years when they become adults, in other words, in order to prepare children for taking the responsibility of establishing a better society in the future, people have to imbue them with the notion by which they could connect their destiny to the whole society's. The first example comes to my mind is Zhou Enlai, who was one of the most essential leaders in new China and also won praise and honor from people around the world. When Zhou was a child in school, once asked that why he studied, he gave the answer that "I am studying for China rising". In fact, it is myriad Zhous who had been socialized and related their destinies with this country in an early age that China can successfully defeated invasions and got reborn. From this aspect of view, we could conclude that how important to socialize children is which could decide the destiny of a nation and a society.
In the second place, no matter families, schools or societies at present fail to teach children how to help bring about a better society. The importance of socializing children is obvious, however, on the other hand, when observing educators at present, we find that they do not seem to emphasize this kind of education. Family members seldom or even never impart children with the notions that they have to focus on social problems, but always emphasize they need to have optimal performance in schools. So what about schools which are the major places for children to receive education? Virtually, in order to win the competitions among schools and enhance the number of students who succeed to enter top universities or colleges, children in schools also rarely get instruction of socializing . Further more, societies nowadays seem to get used of peace, satisfaction and judging a successful person by money, however, seldom provide children with any implication of contributing themselves to the whole society. Accordingly, we could be informed that people have not yet learned how to raise children to strive for a better society.
Moreover, it is time for all people to focus on this problem, though most of us have said farewell to poverty, war, discrimination and ect, the spirit of connecting oneself with a society and a nation is perpetually one of the most powerful impulses for progress. Consequently, we could give more classes about great person in schools to inspire children, provide children with more opportunities to observe problems in society, even ask them to use creativity and imagination to try to solve them and so forth. In one word, we have to take actions to emphasize and implement the education of socializing children.
In a nutshell, according to the content above, we can safely draw the conclusion that how children are socialized determines a society's destiny. And we have failed to educate children this but it is time to take measures.
