When it comes to whether students should be given one long vacation, some people think that it is a good idea, while others believe that several vacations throughout the year will be better. Both of the sides are reasonable on some aspects, but, as far as I concerned, one long vacation may be more significant.

With the rapid development of the economy and society, graduate students are facing a highly competitive world. A student having good working experience will have better opportunities than who does not have. One long vacation can make possible long-term internship. Students can go to companies as an intern and gain precious working experience. For example, my sister wanted to participate an intern program last year, but it needed four months to take part in, which is impossible for a student only have two months long vacation. In a word, long vacation can provide a chance to have better career preparation.

Another advantage of long term vacation is that students can have plenty time to do some research. Because of the intense class schedule, rarely have undergraduate students enough time to do academic research. Suppose students have one long vacation a year, they can take over some research programs like environmental problems, condition of human resource, improvement of chemical experiments and so on.

Certainly, short vacations throughout the year have their own advantages. For the students whose homes are nearby, short vacations offer more chances to go home and have a nice time with their families. Also, one long vacation means long-term study, which probably makes students feel tried. Several short vacations can provide leisure times during studies and keep students have high spirits.  

In a word, although long vacation has its own disadvantages, it outweigh when its merits have been concerned. Consequently, I believe that long vacation would be a better choice.

第2段的例子把时间改下吧 2months的vacation已经够长了 你还looking for a 4months的?

其实这个我也不太了解，只是在之前的作业中有人使用过，意思同signification，有望大侠们指教～～
