总结

I strongly agree with the speaker that the record taken by the video camera has become a more important form of documentation than written records. Though we cannot eliminate the existence of pen, paper and keyboard, visual documentation is more superior in record our contemporary life.

To expand the speaker's assertion, I think the video camera can provide us an accurate and convincing record of life, especially in recording temporal, spatial events, through its multimedia technology. The video camera can tape the three-dimension image of objects, as well as the ambient sounds and lights. With the advanced documenting method, we can almost record everything we witnessed with our own eyes. And the most exciting part is that the lens of video camera is much more apt than human eyes to capture any tiny evidences in front of it. The invention of the video camera and the development of television journalism together with documentary really brought a big revolution into people's cognitive activities. Now, we can turn on television set at home in China and watch the WorldCup soccer matches happening in Germany. In the past, we could only read the words and photographs on newspapers to picture the scenes at least one day after the matches, or listening to the narrative in radio broadcasting to imagine the onsite enthusiasm of the games.

At personal level, people record the memorable moments in life with video camera, such as a merry wedding, a birthday party, a happy outing, and so forth. At the society level, the monument political affairs like national congress, meetings between state leaders, have been documented into visual records, which can provide accurate and convincing impression to the audience.

Moreover, the development of visual processing technology also enhanced the accuracy of the video taped. In modern scouting, policemen can use special designed video processing software to examine the tiny visual evidences recorded by the video surveillance cameras installed in street corners. With the powerful technology, those tiny and blur images could be magnified into many times and even in much higher resolutions. By applying such technology, video camera's ability has been improved to provide strong and accurate reference that can contribute a lot to decision making.

Admittedly, the video camera is not so convenient and affordable as a pen and a notebook that could be carried by anybody everywhere, which will limit the broad usage of it. However, since it is such an important form of documentation, for those vital activities and critical situations, people prefer video camera to record the reality rather than only with writing.

Some people might question the credibility of the edited records taken by video cameras. I have to point out that same concern should also be cast on the written documents. After all, it is much easier to revise some words than to edit the motion images to make it convincing.

In sum, the video camera is a great invention that equipped people with higher capability to capture the world and our life. It can provide accurate and convincing records with much more advantages than the written ones. However, it cannot completely replace pens and papers, though it is superior to them.
