Laws, the structure of the society, can not be simply considered as just or unjust, and although some flaws in them may exist, the citizens need to obey them to make the society more harmony.
First of all, we can not simply interpret the laws, from my point of view, in terms of merely just or unjust, which itself exhibits some subjective. In other words, different people may have different opinions when comes to a particular kind of law. Most of us will probably evaluate it from whether it is just for us or not. On the contrary, the law is established for the benefits of the whole society instead of some individuals during a period; therefore, it inevitably will benefit the majority at the expense of the minority. Nevertheless, it can strike a balance among the competing interests and therefore make the society more harmony and advance in the correct direction. Take the income taxation for example; the percentage of it may vary considerably according to the different incomes: higher ones need to pay more percentage while the lower ones need to pay less. From the lower ones point of views, they may regard the law to be just since they pay less. But the high income person may raise the question naturally that why I need to pay more from what I earned? Definitely they consider the law is unjust to him. As a result, the fairness of the law depends largely on individuals' personal value systems, and we cannot simply classify them into the just or unjust categories.
In a democratic country, the purpose of the law is to regulate the daily life, and all of us need to obey it no matter we consider it is just or not. If the dignity of the laws is challenged, the society will result in turmoil. For example, the law prohibit the social discrimination seems unjust for certain group of people who believe that they are superior to the others. Were all of them to behave as their will with no regard of the laws, the society will return to the states full of violent controversy and endless segregation, on which Martin Luther King spent all his lifetime trying to change. Every member of the society has personal interest which may against the law, but it is our obligation to comply with it.
However, since the laws are not perfect always and everywhere, we need to modify them as the progress of the society, but the method to perform this is not by disobedience. Although disobedience may contribute to the reformation to some extent, someone may suffer a lot for the changes since the laws are enforced by the government. However, in a democracy, anyone who feels that a particular law is flawed can seek to change it by lawful means.
In conclusion, the holy laws need to be respect and obeyed in order to make our society peaceful, orderly, and relatively stable. However, they need to be modified in accordance with the changes and the most efficient way to perform it is through a reasonable path instead of disobedience.
