TOPIC ISSUE26. "Most people would agree that buildings represent a valuable record of any society's past, but controversy arises when old buildings stand on ground that modern planners feel could be better used for modern purposes. In such situations, modern development should be given precedence over the preservation of historic buildings so that contemporary needs can be served."
  
大多数人都同意一个社会的建筑物代表了它有价值的历史纪录，但是当现代规划者们觉得这些以前的建筑物所占据的土地可以被更有价值的使用于新目的时，就产生了争议，现代发展应该比保留历史建筑物更受重视以便于满足眼下的需求。

头一次 限时写这么多哈哈！虽然写得可能不是很好，但是好高兴啊，看来老天也支持我这次再考了，这两天光愁着不考，还是考把！！！
希望大家猛批！！！我一定好好修改！

提纲:
1.        Some history building symbols great meaning to a country, like The Statue of Liberty.
2.        Some was so great that it becomes to be a traveling place or an art of aesthetics.
3.        However, not all the history buildings should be preserved. Some has no great use.

Whether old buildings should be preserved or be destroyed for modern development? It depends. When an old building symbols great meaning to the country or when it has is an art seen from aesthetics, we should preserve it, not only from shortsighted in recently use. But when an old building has not great meaning or use, maybe to destroy it for modern purposes is better.

Firstly, some old buildings have their unique use, which cannot be replaced by modern architectures. These buildings are often some ones left in the history, and symbolize success during that period. For example, the well known architecture--The Statue of Liberty, has great meaning to American. It cannot be destroyed, because it is not just an old building to American, but a spirit of pursuing liberty that guides American. If The Statue of Liberty has been destroyed, the belief of the people will be disturbed. In this way, we can see how important The Statue of Liberty is to American. To the same, The Great Wall is also very important to the Chinese. The Great Wall is not only great in its huge structure, but a great spirit of Chinese. It symbols the good character of Chinese, such as hard work, indigenous, and cleverness. The Great Wall has engaged many Chinese' blood and it stands for a long history in China. If it is destroyed, the period of history will be left nothing and the blood of these people will like the water flowing away.  As a result, we can see how important some old buildings are, since the great meaning of them is unique and none of other buildings can replace them. We should try our best to preserve these buildings as it likes preserve our history and our spirit.

Further, some wonderful old buildings have already become traveling places that attract many foreigners, which has brought many profits to the native country and broaden the foreigner's sight. Many buildings in Creek have absorbed more and more people. Secrets of them, old stories and their weird structure have made many people interested in them. During each year, there are many people go to see these buildings, like pyramid, The Great Sphinx of Egypt, etc. What is more, these buildings are not just traveling place, but becomes materials to history professors for researching. So these buildings become more and more important since they called great attention and interest of people. They should not be destroyed.

However, not all old buildings should not be destroyed and well preserved. As we know, some old buildings are not have great value and the fund for preserve them is not small. In this case, we should make the ground where old buildings stand for modern development. An old building near my house is a proper example. For many years, there are few people to visit it, but the government supports a great fund on it each year. The fund could support a good school! And right now, there is a good idea that some companies want this place to open a big shop, for there are no big shops in the area. In this case, I think the choice is right. The modern purpose can resolve problems of the residents living there for shopping and also will bring profit to the company, which may mean that it will bring increase development in the area. According to this example, we can see some old buildings which are not deserved well preservation may be just replaced for modern development.

In conclusion, it is too absolutely to say that modern development should always prior to the preservation of historic buildings. And that will also lose great value of the historic buildings. We should preserve the old buildings which have great meaning to us or can provide great values to the world and when an old building has no use, we may just destroy it for modern purpose.
