Can scandals be useful and compared to speaker and reformer, whether scandals focus our attention on problems more or not?Although scandals always cause some bad influence which is hated by human beings, we have to admit that it is useful to make people pay more attention to the existing problems in politics, academia, or other areas by a much sharper stimulation which can not be brought out by speakers or reformers.
Scandals are useful to expose the problems deeply in an extreme way and always could catch the public’s eyes successfully so that not only the individuals involved in scandals who are usually famous ones in a certain realm could consider the requirements to them and their actual behaviors carefully, but also the public will look for the roots of the scandals and review the rules in the whole area, and then the entire field will be improved after hot discussions and the found of new restrictions.
Take the academia as an example; some researchers steal others’ achievements. It is considered unfaithful to the spirit of scientific study and harmful to the reputation of the researchers. Once this scandal is discovered by academia, the researcher has to take the responsibility and admit his or her subjective fault as soon as possible, and then he or she has to promise the same mistake will not happen again. The scandal will make him or her return the right road to seek the truth from then on. The public will consider the reason why a good researcher becomes a thief. The objective reasons, such as the heavy burdens of papers or the researchers have not been treated as fairly as what they are deserved, will be thought again. Although the objective reasons could not become the excuses of their mistakes, the whole society still has to pay attention to the real situations and if the objective reasons play an important part, the colleges and academic union will take effective measures to reduce the unreasonable burdens to our researchers or to increase the funds to satisfy the needs of scientific research.
One has to admit that the speaker and reformer also focus our attention on different scientific and social problems especially before any scandals take place; however, the speaker and reformer, not like the scandals which always give the people a big shock by an incredible fact, always just mildly remind the people to pay attention to the possible problems or just try to persuade the people by a lecture with principles or an article without facts. If the relevant people can not realize the importance of the situation before the results come out, the efforts which are took by speakers and reformers will be in vain.
In sum, the scandals are useful to find the problems and to promote the solutions of the problems in all kinds of areas, while they are disliked by the public for their bad influence. If we could make full use of the discoveries from speak and reformer and prevent the scandals from taking place, that is better. Otherwise, we have to wait for the improvements which are caused by scandals. After all, before the scandals happen, less people will pay enough attention to the problems.
