If you could travel back in time to meet a famous person from history, what person would you like to meet? Use specific reasons and examples to support your choice.
On the question of what person I would like to meet if I have the opportunity to travel back, I will choose Jane Austen, England's first truly important female novelist.
Primarily, I'd like to talk with her and figure out that how she could concentrated on the everyday life and ostensibly trivial aspects of genteel society instead of being influenced by the intense and passionate Romantic movement at that time. In other words, her most valuable quality is to stick to what she's virtually interested in instead of following others' step, which might be popular or profitable. Moreover, she had difficulty in earning respect and recognition from her contemporary critics, but Jane made unremitting efforts to improve her writing skills and as we know, her six novels influenced England literature history deeply after her death.
Also, she created the character of Mr. Darcy by her own imagination or by observing a real person she knew, such as her prince charming or friends. In my high school, I was fascinated by Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice. He is admired by people not only he's rich and handsome but also his integrity and intelligence. Besides, he knows well how to deals with love, marriage and social or personal rivalries. If we read her other novels carefully, it's easy to find out that every hero has the same qualities with Mr. Darcy more or less, therefore having a talk with Jane Austen are able to uncover all my questions.
In addition, when we meet, I can discuss with her about England genteel society in eighteenth and nineteenth century, which appeals me a lot as I read her novels. For instance, balls, trips, dances, and an unending procession of marriage proposals are depicted and presented to us in details. Although Jane's novel deals with a limited social circle--provincial gentry and the upper class, her perceptive and satire about these people's relationship, values, and shortcomings is incisive and profound. The characteristic makes her works more precious rather than be a simple recreational novels.
